Jul. 11th, 2006 03:23 pmI think I've replied to everyone's birthday wishes:) In case not, I did see them:) *huggles flist*
Yesterday was good day. I've been loving the weather we've been having the past couple of days -- upper 80s, lower 90s, and middling humidity. In OK, these would be referred to as perfect spring days. No joke.
Birthday party at the lab involved blueberries and stacey-safe chocolatechip cookies for me (and everyone else, there were a ton) and then others enjoyed some other fruit and ice cream from WaWa (I don't trust wawa fruit to not have preservatives when it's the precut). Also, my one birthday card that I'd received:P LOL. All I've gotten in the mail in the form of cards so far is from the sunglass hut! B didn't even give me one giving his normal "I couldn't find a good one" excuse (which is okay. I've never been much of a card person, it's just usually, all my college friends and such send a bunch. Then again, maybe the fact that I never send ANYONE cards is catching up w/ me. Seriously, my parents are the only ones assured of ever getting me to actually mail a card).
B went to watch me eat at a local restaurant (he thought his experiment was going long, so he'd stuffed himself only half an hour before). All in all, good day. Oh and sewer gas disappeared all on its lonesome since the concierge misheard my message (even though I said bathroom multiple times) and maintenance guy checked on the gas range instead. *rolls eyes*

writing flaildom
Jul. 11th, 2006 07:14 pmI have the sneaking suspicion that a gremlin snuck in and stole everything I ever learned about prose out of my brain. At least that's how it feels. I'm making a concerted effort to ignore the prettiness and just get words down since it's been so long since I've written regularly (and I now totally understand PT's worries about losing the "vibe" of X fandom when she runs off and writes a bunch of BSG and SN). But but but....it hurts to have the scene play out in words in pictures in my head like when I first started instead of just COMING to me already in words. Harder to figure out what to add in for descriptions. Less feeling of being in the head of a character and more of a voyeuristic watching the characters interact and then turn their noses up at me when I want to know their motivations.

Really, if someone finds my toolbox, send it back to me please!
