Finally!! All the hardware is working. I was very upset this morning when I couldn't connect to my wireless for whatever reason --- kept getting "can't connect" even though everything appeared to be working. Paniced call to Dell before my 3 days expired and a lot of stuff I'd already done, guy finally had be uninstall that driver and restart and voila! It works.

now then folks, anyone know of a good software firewall that plays well with a modem firewall? I'm not positive that that was the problem, but I trust luridmuse when she tells me that zonealarm doesn't play nicely and is a resource hog. Which would explain why it was so difficult to complete an asquared trojan scan there at the end.

Yes, you might interpret this as a sign of more bad behavior on the part of my computer. Started it up upon returning home only to achieve a blue screen of death.

Is that even possible w/ XP? Well, it happened. Told me x file was screwed and couldn't start and said to try again. When I did, it kindly told me that starting windows was impossible and did I want to start in Safe mode and delete recently installed hardware/software or restart in the most recently useable configuration.

I chose the lattter and now beg people to stop cursing me with technology trolls. If you don't, computer will be sent to attitude readjustment camp with someone who understands its ins and outs better than moi.

Don't make me do that.
