First Journeyman becomes the thinking man's Quantum Leap. That alone would have been enough to made this fall tv season a win.
But Life...oh man. I really doubt that any other cop show would ever surpass Boomtown. Boy was I wrong on soooooo many levels. They may have trouble juggling and giving time to their A and B stories sometimes, but only because they're A stories have so much depth to them. And the B stories are...well, generally fleshing out Crewes' character by fleshing out the non-cops that are his support system - his finance handler guy that he met in prison and the lawyer that got him out. This surpasses anything that Prison Break did in its first five episodes IMO. And the self contained stories allow you to not be constantly wondering at the mystery and being upset that there's no reveal or clue a la Lost.
I seriously cannot begin to squee or recommend this show highly enough. If it was on at the same time as SPN...I'd be watching Life....just to give you an idea.

Date: 2007-10-25 12:50 pm (UTC)I wondering if perhaps the guy he was partnering w/ for the bar whose family and all got killed was either involved in the bank heist or found out about it and got silenced. Might finally give Crewes the reason for why what happened, if not the who.

Date: 2007-10-25 01:30 pm (UTC)I can't help but think the all-too-cheerful former partner has something to do with it, maybe. Between his being almost manicly happy and little subtextual hints like him handing Crews the gun (with the underlying weird atmosphere that went along with that scene)... yeah. My writer's paranoia is piqued. : )
