Wow, so I managed to go almost 8 weeks with next to no travel. So of course the gods are going to punish me by almost constant travel for next 3 weeks. Sigh. Including red state stays in Dallas and Phoenix.

May still managed to be eventful as I had cassie_e with me for most of the month as she relocates from Florida to NJ :) It was fun but also a testament that my house is too small for extended stays by more than 1 being at at a time. And as much as I love dogs and would love to have one, I'm not prepared to have one that is an indoor dog. though Firefly the corgi was adorable and constantly in love with me.

Only other major event is I went from managing 1 person (former job at ad firm), to managing 2 people with new job, to my team growing to 4 by March (which was needed by workload like whoah), to now 5 with the intern we are getting. Talk about being forced to grow interpersonal skills

Cooking for two people was fun though, and had me stretching myself -- think I've finally figured out a lasagna recipe I like. Though it will be a while before I make it two weeks in a row. Wow, that was a lot of lasagna to get through.

Let's see fannishness:
Timeless --- honestly, i kept watching for 1) people i know who watch it as a family affair, and 2) Flynn.
I was less than impressed with the whole completely kill off Lucy's sister, bring back incredibly mysogynistic great-grandfather, oh and the complete focus on romantic relationships and secret keeping. Basically season 2 ended up being everything I was worried about with the show having Kripke involved.

I was also less than enthralled with the historic events utilized and complete focus on only American history. Especially given that the evil great grandfather fought in WW1, and I'd say that America was isolationist enough pre-WW1 to not have had that much effect on world events.

The Expanse -- yay to amazon saving the show. I definitely loved the first half of S3. Am beyond sad at the major death that has happened in S3 as that loses us a large source of snark. I'm not thrilled with the adaptation of how the UN congregation gets to the ring so far, as it wasn't how I pictured it from the books, but know they are working with budgetary limitations so I will let it pass. Very bored by pretty much everything happening on the Belter Warship right now.

Instinct -- I was initially hopeful for this because of Alan Cumming. After forcing myself to sit through 2 episodes, I cannot believe this got renewed. I'm glad it didn't bump elementary, but gah. so not impressed.

splitting up together -- ABC sitcom about a couple that divorces, but house share. Honestly, everyone in this show is adorable. It's a bit like Cougar Town crossed with Everbody Loves Raymond. Only 8 or so episodes for first season, but very tight and I can't wait to see what they do with it next year.

The Heart Guy -- Okay, for this one, you'd have to subscribe to ACORN on Amazon. Australia soapy small town doctor drama. Rodger Corsar stars, but pretty sure rest of cast is pretty well known for those into Australia shows. Honestly, just a bit of mindless fun with great scenery (both landscape and man).

The Brave -- Sigh. Very sad this got cancelled. Honestly, thought it was much stronger than SEAL TEAM (David Boreanz vehicle) though the latter grew on me. But team chemistry and mood of The Brave was just kinda perfect.

Hmmm, think that's all for now. see you in another month or so, or however long it takes me to open my laptop instead of my ipad again.

In lieu of focusing on current events, when I'm not at work, I'm focusing on fact that fall TV is back.

Boreanz's new show -- SEal team i think -- is so very clearly trying to be hurt locker + seal team 6 (history channel) but omg it fails on so many plotting and pacing levels in first episode. And dudes, Mamet already did 1000x better with The Unit.

so on to NBC's The Brave which I have to admit I had NO EXPECTATIONS for based on hokey over patriotic promos I saw. However, I am pleasantly surprised. Pilot was tight and not 1000percent predictable. the various team chemistry are great. Second episode was better than the first.

Bonus: they have a female sniper on the team -- unclear if this is meant to be delta force or seal team -- but it definitely works without seeming like a ploy, while they also acknowledge fact. Also, second episode focused on rescuing female CIA agent who also did a very good amount of self rescue.

So kudos to the Brave writing teams and NBC, because this show has quickly become my only new must see TV for me.

Will try out SWAT primarily due to Shawn Ryan attachment.

Other than that, I'm primarily back with Lucifer, Lethal Weapon, Chicago Fire as eye candy, and then waiting on final season of Major Crime (boooo).

After many years, I've also finally started watching the Orange is the New Black -- oh thank god it's not as "office-y" as I'd thought. Though I am sick of the male fiance story line. Also mainlined the first 3 seasons of Wentworth in a full week a bit back. Not as depressing as Oz, but wow. Though i am now really tired of psycho warden in all her incarnations, thank you very much, and so taking a break from it.

Australia Rush 2008 series went off hulu finally :(:(:(:(:(:( I hadn't gotten up to doing a full second rewatch yet so i may have dropped too much money on buying the dvds. need to hook up my international dvd player that I got when same thing happened to sea patrol and make sure it works.
