Okay, i know at least one of you have one, so maybe someone has experienced this....if not it can serve as a warning I suppose.

B was going to add another album to his zen player last night, but first he did updates to his computer including one to WMP upgrading it to 11 or some such. His player was also connected since that's the only way he has to charge the battery.

Long story short, when the updates to WMP happened, it started randomly downloading music from his library into his player starting alphabetically. While trying to get it to stop, it somehow decided to spontaneously format his player, wiping all his music...and wiping away whatever was needed for his computer to recognize his player.

Yeah, I know, that explains the screaming and the waves in the ground from his fist pounding things that you heard and felt last night.

Not sure if he got it fixed or not last night as my migraine was precluding me from searching online for a fix for him. Gave him some generic advice and left him on his own. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough if it worked or not.

Anyone had something similar happen? If not, beware of updating WMP with your mp3 player connected to your computer.

Well, I never did manage to find my dell pocket dj cd w/ the dell program for transferring on it. I know I still have it, but I don't feel like tearing my place apart for it. Plus, the program sucked ass royally anyways, which is why I used WMP. And don't even talk to me about musicmatch.

However, I lucked out when I was trying to find an online place to download the dell program and found - Red Chair Software. They actually have programs for use w/ a number of different mp3 players. Have to pay, and at least for dell there was no free trial, but hey. It also appears it will allow me to transfer stuff off of my mp3 onto my computer, which the dell version wouldn't and it never worked for me in WMP.

Anyways, thought I'd mention it in case anyone else ran into my issues. I'm just glad that enough people bought the dell players before they were canceled to make it profitable for these people to make this program :):) ETA -- they actually have a program alternative to itunes for use w/ ipods.

Of course, now I have to wonder whether or not the wonderful rootkit from Dave Matthew's Stand CD is still contained in the files on my mp3 player or not.

If you have a dell manufactured mp3 player, do not install the latest windows media player update.

Up till now, WMP11 has had no problem with my mp3 player. After the most recent update, wmp11 is refusing to recognize my dell mini jukebox and telling me to roll back to wmp10. Which is fine, because wmp11 is an even bigger resource hog than 10, but still.
