I cracked open my gelatto this afternoon --- don't look at me like that. I HAD to. B kept asking how it'd survived the trip with only cold packs since he'd been too pissed off at work that day to go get any dry ice.
It survived just fine. A little hard till it melted, but the taste was just perfect. And since Turkey Hill changed their formulation ever so slightly, it was the best ice cream I've had in months. (I can still eat the turkey hill, but it just doesn't taste as good.)
Am now ignoring the voice that wants to EAT IT ALL RIGHT THIS MINUTE OMG. Especially since I'm not sure how serious B was about the crack of getting me weekly boxes of it (though these boxes have like maybe 3 servings in them, so it's not all that much).
And I know, I sound stupid going on about ice cream like this. To understand, you have to realize that I grew lactose-intolerant before the nifty little lactase enzyme pills were served -- so I had ice cream maybe once or twice a year until I was about 14 or so since we KNEW I'd be sick afterward. And even then, I didn't start getting LOTS of ice cream because it was always a crapshoot on whether the pills would work on ice cream -- which I now know was due to the corn syrup that seems to be required to make the crap anymore. And now there's two brands made that is available at stores that I can actually eat. So, ice cream has always been "special" for me.
And omg, I never had gelatto till I was 25!!!! And gelatto is SOOO much better than ice cream. We might be talking better than homemade ice cream here (though it's been a LONG time since I"ve had home made ice cream. At the time, the best part of homemade ice cream was that I'd get to drink eagle brand milk ---- which I now know why that tastes so divine. *glares at the corn*).
Okay, I'm gonna stop rambling and decide what to do for dinner before I give in and attack the gelatto some more.
