Heartbreaking is right. I honestly didn't finish the article. I have had enough of it to the point that I avoid the news. Feeling completely helpless to stop what one's own country is doing, much less what people in other countries are doing to each other, just sucks.
Why is it so difficult for people to just stop it with the violence? Religion is supposed to bring people together.
Something has gone terribly, terribly wrong. It so often does, and I just don't get it on a fundamental level. History repeats itself ad nauseum, and I just want to go get back in bed.
So here I am, and I believe I should, but I find I do not, have anything intelligent or productive to say. :P
*fires up the farscape tapes to distract you with*
Sorry to bum you out, I was just impressed that someone was actually publishing that side of it for once. And yeah, it is pretty incredible that we're repeating it all again. Growing up and hearing voice after voice say "never again" with regards to vietnam and such, I'm pretty amazed that this administration has managed it and continues to keep it up.
Oh, no, please don't be. It is important and I really should pay more attention than I do. It's especially important given that the Dubya administration has tried to do so much to censor information about what really goes on in Iraq. Plus, I teach classes that involve current events. I just... well, ya know.

Same here. It still boggles my mind that the guy got re-elected.
