*knock on wood*

I think I have another router dying on me. My gt704wg actiontec had worked like a dream w/ no problems --- never really had it boot me off much or anything. Then starting last week, it stopped booting up correctly when I turned it on (I turn it off when I go to work and when I sleep). The power light would stay red and never connect to the internet. It takes one or two times of turning it on or off to get it to respond.

Then today, it's started spontaneously crashing to less than 1.0 Mbps. I really wish best buy would carry them you know. Then I could buy a warranty on a new one. I'll probably see how it behaves through next week before making up my mind if I'll spend the money to replace it. Which, I have to since there aren't any networks around unsecured to connect to:P

I guess the tech idjit on the help desk knew what he was talking about when my last one died when he said that it should be located 12 feet away from any other electronic device at least. Of course, that's pretty much impossible in my apartment. Hell, it's impossible to even get 12 feet away from the circuit breaker box. Of course, i'm still pretty convinced that it was fried by lightning since that was when my cell phone got fried.

*pets Dean-O* My electronics better not get the idea to misbehave all at once again.

Ive had the same router for.. uh.. 3 or so years its sitting otop of my DVR box next to the playstation, which is ontop of my DVD player, which is under my TV and all of them are about 5 ft from the computers and we've never had them fry. so Im not too sure about that 12 ft rule there. :)
I think youre just a jinx for electronics luv. :)
