Okay, so Studio 60 was on last night (though no "next time" preview, make of that what you will.) so I guess next week is Friday Night Lights Monday debut (not that I'll be watching. Sorry, I lived through that crap already and it isn't entertaining to me no matter how good the show is. Much like Brothers and Sisters).
However, last night's show of Studio 60 was also the worst episode of the show by far. The pieces w/ Lauren Graham and the party should have been worked in somehow to last weeks show (though last weeks show was by far the best of the season as well so I don't know where you could have put it in). The parts w/ the writer who was showing his parents around --- Way too much a "west wing" rip off w/ the tour. If you were going to use it, you should have aired it in the opener or closer to the premiere to give people a sense of what the history of the fake show was. Otherwise, complete crap unless this was something to make us care about a character who we've usually only seen in costume so far.
The old man *bangs head* God, they could have done that story so much better. First off, I knew immediately that the dude would be in the picture and would have been a writer or comedian. Secondly, the speech where the film crew head guy goes on this big deal about what the old guy went through in World War II -- I swear, the old guy looked like he was about to cry. I kept wanting him to jump up and go psycho on the film guy for making him relive his PTSD for amusement/curiosity factor. Blech. Also, it really had no tie in hardly to the rest of the story narrative. Or rather we had about 8 story narratives that were only loosely tied to the theme of "oh, for years people have been persecuted for doing political comedy".
The only story line I found entertaining at all was the one w/ Hughley and Perry. And I found the girl who couldn't "get" the concept of writer vaguely insulting to women everywhere, though I understood it. It wouldn't have been so bad if they'd only had her ask the question once, but 2-3 times, give me a break!!! I honestly don't know if we'll ever see anymore eps of this show (or even how many are filmed), but man, someone needs to cut back the writers caffeine (and other drug) intake. Seriously.
Heroes was okay. I do feel like we could stay with the characters a tad more.
Okay, time for work after I slept like the dead last night (and had continual nightmares about work. This is not helped by the fact that my building has somehow figured out how to turn the heat on once a day so that I'm woken at 3 am every day by the radiator banging.)
