Politics in general has been just getting me down lately instead of causing any type of useful indignation. Which is to be expected, it happens every time the attack ads hit the airwaves (though Santorum calling Casey a criminal is kinda funny considering everything. Can't wait to vote for Casey. Santorum is the type of wingnut I'm more used to seeing down in Oklahoma).

But I digress. You may or may not have heard that the House recently passed bill S.3930, also known as the McCain Torture Bill Compromise. This is so not good and has been discussed ad infinitum in many places. Daily Kos points out that not only will it allow torture, but sodomy will be put on the table as an accepted method. Anyone else feel like we're returning to the Spanish Inquisition, except instead of witches, we're hunting terrorists?

Amnesty International reminds you that although it's too late to protest to the House, you can still call or write your senators to tell them exactly what you think about them caving to BushCheney Co in regard to torture.
ETA: too late, they passed it.
The eleven democratic senators that broke ranks. When they're up for reelection, make sure they remember it.
Reid's response. He failed big time for thinking that a filibuster wouldn't be necessary, he didn't have the votes to prevent a cloture if he had filibustered when he could, but at least he can speak the english language more eloquently than some. I only hope he's right about the courts.

I remember how the list of things that made us different from the terrorists was so much longer just six years ago. It scares me that terror mongering has not become an acceptable part of politics and that we're actually on the brink of throwing the Bill of Rights into the toilet. Hard to believe Kerry once had a problem distinguishing himself from the patriot that sits in the Oval Office today.
