Rep. Waxman does it again!"Rep. Waxman does it again!
He's just posted a letter to Secretary Chertoff from Ranking Member Waxman and Chairman Davis which describes documents from the Department of Homeland Security that show that FEMA was aware in 2004 that a "catastrophic hurricane" could hit New Orleans and "trap hundreds of thousands of people in flooded areas and leave up to one million people homeless." Details at the link.
Andrew Schamess, an astrodome volunteer, describes the situation at the astrodome and his interaction with the evacuees. Very telling story of how his interactions with the real people are versus how FEMA personell continues to act.

Oh, and if, like me, you don't have cable, you should really go to the Daily Show site at Comedy Central's website and watch Jon Stewart's interview with Brian Williams. You know, I really didn't like Williams that much when he took over the NBC Nightly news --- his over-tan always makes me want to send him some sunscreen so he doesn't die of melanoma (though it is interesting that after the past week, he's finally lost the "goggle" white circles around his eyes). but between the reports recently and then this interview, I'm actually starting to think that he's a half decent reporter.
