Okay, so everyone knows I succumbed to teh evol right? ;) LOL. So I figured I'd at least give my impressions of the shows you are most likely already uber-familiar with, though I know there are a few out there that are as out of the loop as I am (winks at [livejournal.com profile] mona1347). And I caution you, I'm not great at doing reviews after only watching an episode once --- and I tend to not keep the discs long enough to watch them twice because OMG, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!! ;) But yeah, figured I'd post something other than my boring ass life and fanfic for you guys.

Now, shoo.

WTF?? You are kidding me right? 5 episodes = 1 season?? *bangs head* Auugh.

Okay, so disc 1 with the pilot and the first episode, I wasn't too impressed with. Several of the actor and actresses could have been better, some things dragged a bit, just wasn't the greatest thing ever. Interesting premise, so-so delivery. Of course, Peter Coyote and Joel Gretsch's performances were good enough that i didn't mind coming back to it for the next set of episodes...

And wow! It took off after that. The overall conspiracy of the media etc added a little bit more to it. It still feels a tad x-files-ishy though I'm glad they stopped having Baldwin's partner channel Scully.

I still can't believe they left us w/ such a painful cliffhanger. I hope season 2 gives us more episodes than this though. This is just painful!

Okay, say what you will about Julian Mcmahon's acting ability -- but he is pretty to look at and plays assholes incredibly well. Add the director and a great script in, and he can even be a convincingly sympathetic anti-hero. This show has me hooked from the first episode. I'm still debating if i'm going to mainline all the discs in order or rotate in another show or not. Everything about this show is about the angst, which everyone here knows I feed off of. Blessedly, little of the angst comes from "omg, how fucking stupid embarrassing" is that, which is just painful for me to watch.

Honestly, I squee over this. It's good, very very good. I mean, honestly, I can see that this is what the Desperate Housewives sorta tries to attempt to be, but it's next to impossible to do on network tv. Try the first disc and then fight me to rent the rest:) LOL.

I went into this wanting to love it. After watching it, all I loved was seeing Jeremy Piven play a complete Jack-ass. Which might be enough to get me to rent the second season, but I'm not in a hurry about it. The entire show is pretty much what you would think it is -- almost documentary style of the new male star in town which roughly translates into Hollywood Animal House. And yeah, almost everything in it is very painful for me to watch because it is all embarrassing in some way. From the new star going on Jimmy Kimmel after refusing to do the pre-interview (made his best friend/assistant do it) and then not pimping his movie on it to the continued escapades of the men desperate to sleep with the women and going after pot, yeah, just not quite my thing.

The writing was very intelligent though, all the actors nailed their parts perfectly, and the directing was spot on. It just wasn't, "must see tv" for me. Too much like reality TV with not quite enough Jeremy Piven to make up for it.
