[livejournal.com profile] cassiee, are you futzing with my layout or was I just the victim of the spontaneous LJ layout bug? (I know I didnt' have something right originally, so I figure it could be you fixing my mistake ;)

ETA, okay 7 hrs later, and it's back to how it was. Huh. Lj is wierd.

Surprisingly, I didn't have much trouble sleeping even though I slept the entire four hours on the plane out here and everything (and had some oddly good dreams.). The wierdest thing yesterday was that on both flights I sat next to a couple and their two month old --- but wait, it wasn't any newborn - it was Italian. Actually, I'm fairly certain they were American but they were living in Italy the mother said. This makes two well behaved infants that I've sat next to (the other was quite a bit older) and they were both Italian. Just a tad odd to me. Worse, I swear I sort of know the father --- he really didn't say hardly two words to me (even during out ten minute enforced stand at the back of the cabin when we apparently both decided to make a run for the restroom and got cut off from our seats by the drink cart), but omg did he ever look incredibly familiar. As in I think he's worked in a lab near or around me at some point during my time here in philly. At least, I'd hope I'd remember if I actually went to school with him. *shrugs*

The day isn't off to a great start -- I almost spilled my coffee all over my computer. My overextended thumb that was merely sore yesterday morning is downright painful today and has much less freedom of movement in the joint. Which means that pipetting will not be fun. Anxiety is also making itself known (TC-28 for anyone that's counting). I just want to write fun things.

But I guess at least I have pandora radio and high speed internet back. And my own apartment (omg, I am so not made for living with other people anymore).

Oh, I bought many cds with christmas money (some because I got gift cards to the local video/music store and the other because I got an unexpected money gift from one of my mother's friends). Hilariously, I THOUGHT I'd purchased Dave Matthew's newest cd --- actually, I purchased a cd released in 1998. *face palm* But I did score the first album that Stir released (you can't buy either of their two albums commercially anymore. I bought their second way back in college when I saw them in concert at the Blue Note) and it's definitely listenable. Not too different from the other that I had, but both are different from the normal brand of music I listen to. Not much of a shocker that they didn't become huge or anything, but sad that they didn't have a longer career.

Okay, time to face real life before I talk myself into finding a way to not go into the lab today.

If you have a dell manufactured mp3 player, do not install the latest windows media player update.

Up till now, WMP11 has had no problem with my mp3 player. After the most recent update, wmp11 is refusing to recognize my dell mini jukebox and telling me to roll back to wmp10. Which is fine, because wmp11 is an even bigger resource hog than 10, but still.

Okay, coming to work was absolutely the right thing to do. Different people and not all alone in my head. Plus, the sunshine probably didn't hurt either.
