so yeah...watched revelations last night on nbc. Am a little suprised at how much *hate* about this show is floating around on lj. Dunno, it was really pretty benign in my mind for the most part -- no worse than a hundred other warlock or prophecy like movies. *shrugs* Written and directed better than say Point Pleasant, so it won't crash and burn out of ineptitude.

Biggest gripe was I felt like the POV through the scenes was being jerked around worse than bad fanfic. I mean, an entire scene consister of maybe 20s before you switch to different place, different person?? And then continuing the trend? It's a tad unsettling in tv. that and the hugest plot thread left hanging --> spoiler )

All in all not to bad. And all very fuzzy wuzzy in the nbc tradition....siiiiigh. Not something to plan to watch ever again...but I was avoiding work and taxes and the show was definitely better than both of those.

And yeah, 2 burgers at the bar in 2 days was probably not the greatest idea ever. Stomach, forgive me sometime soon, kthanks.

Oh boy...so yeah, I think I'd completely forgotten exactly how much it takes out of you when your body is doing it's best to fight a sinus infection. I definitely don't have it yet but was just sooo blah mood wise all day today and ready to fall asleep. Still felt cruddy moody after I got home so I figured what the hell, I'll take a nap instead of going downstairs to do some cardio..a.nd promptly feel asleep for 2 hrs w/ no problem.

So yeah, keep going immune system cause I don't feel like making this the year I have to figure out how to get antibiotics compounded to avoid the corn.

Bless him

Bless the pope, I don't think I'm ever going to get around to the religious rant inspired by the ummmmm "festivities" following his death at this rate. No instead the religious right republicans seem bound and determined to cause me to become a frigging political activist!!!

Frist Set to Join Religious Effort on Judicial Issue (nytimes reg req)
Soo, while Frist isn't completely joining in w/ Delay's complete god complex, he is joining "a handful of prominent Christian conservatives in a telecast portraying Democrats as "against people of faith" for blocking President Bush's nominees." 'Cause you know, a filibuster aimed at Bush's nominations isn't about the fact that the said nominees include a loony who is sooo radical and ignorant of our little constitutional clause about separation of church and state that even the most conservative appeals court circuit in the nation overturns his verdicts, no! No it's about keeping "people of the faith" down just like those wackos did to "people of color" during the '60s.

Auugh. Leave it to the white, majority faith, rich, conservative Republicans to find a way to make the process of democracy about their supposed discrimination. Geez, it took us how long to get prayer out of schools? Schools run by the state when our constitution talks about separation of church and state? And hell, I can take a little "moralism" w/ my government---you want to put up the 10 commandments? Fine. But really, to make everyone pray to the same god when you know you have a multi-religious culture in lots of places is stupid and ignorant. And fine, I'm sure some of the blocked nominees are blocked possibly because of their religious and moral views---but if they've acted on the bench to such an extent that there is a record to cite that their religious and moral views skew their interpretation of the law and the CONSTITUTION, then they should be blocked!

Here we are trying to do our damndest to institute secular democracies throughout the world while the people in power do their best to turn us into a Christian democracy. Ugggh...really people, you keep this up and I'll be voting for the Green party next election just out of protest!

BTW, GOP leadership---if you in any way let Delay run during the Republican primaries for 2008 for president, kiss my independent vote goodbye regardless of who actually ends up winning the primaries.

From the Daily Kos

From Ben Wikler, writing for the Al Franken Show's blog:
It seems that the GOP is opposed to creating a "bi-partisan task force with equal representation of the majority and minority parties to make recommendations to restore public confidence in the ethics process." That's what a House resolution called for--a resolution that was just killed by an almost-party-line 218-195 vote. The only Republicans with the guts to vote for it were Jim Leach of Iowa and Joel Hefley of Colorado. (Hefley, you'll remember, chaired the ethics committee until he was ousted for adminishing DeLay.) [...]
House aides tell us that more than two--possibly nine--Republicans had voted in favor of ethics... that is, until the GOP decided to hold the vote open and twist arms. Under Tom DeLay, this has become standard practice; votes are routinely held open as House leaders intimidate members of Congress into flip-flopping [...] If a roll call vote is going badly and the Speaker Pro Tem is about to shut things down, Republican leaders can just say "Stop. Hammer time"--and the bug man and his minions will get down and dirty on the House floor. It looks like that's what happened today, as the GOP leadership saw their party's unanimous opposition to ethics begin to fracture.

So yeah, if you are from Iowa or Colorado, do me a favor and vote for Leach and Hefley (respectively) when they come up for re-election. I loves me a politician who actually goes out on a limb for the right thing.

OMG!! ROFL

Okay, so yeah, you know I'm not a big fan of Tom Delay...no surprise. Still, I can't believe this bite I read on the Daily Kos (see my previous post for the link:

From Washington Times interview with DeLay:
Mr. Hurt: Have you ever crossed the line of ethical behavior in terms of dealing with lobbyists, your use of government authority or with fundraising?
Mr. DeLay: Ever is a very strong word.

Hello, you've been in politics for how long? What's the deal? Lying directly to journalists is a bigger ethical violation than whatever else you've been doing? Or are you worried that all your stumping on the Terri Schiavo case has attracted too much of God's attention? And I'd continue to make jokes along that line, but I'm sure that Jon Stewart will have it covered tomorrow!

So yeah...wandered over and watched the show again because after my nap I didn't really feel like writing. And well....I'm still interested. Gonna give it till the end of this 6 run before I decide if I really want to see the first season though.

spoilers )

Honestly...enjoyed Tru Calling more than Revelations the other night. Tru Calling is actually less predictable......that or I've read one too many religion inspired spy thriller (and no I'm not referring to the piece of **it that is the Da Vinci Code. In fact, honestly, people who profess to have read that book get the same slightly scared look of disbelief as Harry Potter fans (no offense flist, I'm sure there is some attraction, I just can't see it))

Soo...some fandom ish stuff for those of you freaked out by my political spam.

How much am I addicted to Ghost in the Robot?? How badly upset am I that I only have one song since they broke up and stopped selling cds right when I discovered them?? Enough to order James's new solo album w/out even hearing a song from it. OMG..I love his voice. And Mad Brilliant, I still haven't gotten sick of it. Now for it to hurry up and get here!!! Not released till tomorrow I guess from the site, so hopefully next week!

In other news, I realized why I'm so addicted to Howie Day --- in his darker songs he sounds exactly like Chris Isaak in his dark songs. *guh* yes, I'm a voice person.

I still can't believe that James is 40. Guh. He's aged well.
