Bless the pope, I don't think I'm ever going to get around to the religious rant inspired by the ummmmm "festivities" following his death at this rate. No instead the religious right republicans seem bound and determined to cause me to become a frigging political activist!!!

Frist Set to Join Religious Effort on Judicial Issue (nytimes reg req)
Soo, while Frist isn't completely joining in w/ Delay's complete god complex, he is joining "a handful of prominent Christian conservatives in a telecast portraying Democrats as "against people of faith" for blocking President Bush's nominees." 'Cause you know, a filibuster aimed at Bush's nominations isn't about the fact that the said nominees include a loony who is sooo radical and ignorant of our little constitutional clause about separation of church and state that even the most conservative appeals court circuit in the nation overturns his verdicts, no! No it's about keeping "people of the faith" down just like those wackos did to "people of color" during the '60s.

Auugh. Leave it to the white, majority faith, rich, conservative Republicans to find a way to make the process of democracy about their supposed discrimination. Geez, it took us how long to get prayer out of schools? Schools run by the state when our constitution talks about separation of church and state? And hell, I can take a little "moralism" w/ my government---you want to put up the 10 commandments? Fine. But really, to make everyone pray to the same god when you know you have a multi-religious culture in lots of places is stupid and ignorant. And fine, I'm sure some of the blocked nominees are blocked possibly because of their religious and moral views---but if they've acted on the bench to such an extent that there is a record to cite that their religious and moral views skew their interpretation of the law and the CONSTITUTION, then they should be blocked!

Here we are trying to do our damndest to institute secular democracies throughout the world while the people in power do their best to turn us into a Christian democracy. Ugggh...really people, you keep this up and I'll be voting for the Green party next election just out of protest!

BTW, GOP leadership---if you in any way let Delay run during the Republican primaries for 2008 for president, kiss my independent vote goodbye regardless of who actually ends up winning the primaries.
