From the NYT (Carl Huse) http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/06/politics/06cong.html (reg req)
"[the Judeo-Christian Council for Constitutional Restoration] will discuss potential steps to be discussed are impeaching federal judges who let personal values influence decisions, reducing or eliminating court financing, and giving Congress and the states the power to vacate Supreme Court rulings." Representative Tom Delay was to have attended until he rescheduled to attend the papal funeral.

WTF??? The religious fanatics in Congress want impeach judges who use their personal values when weighing decisions??? HUH? Hypocritical much? How 'bout state and national leaders who let their personal values influence thier votes and policies regardless of the true values/opinions of the constituents who elected them?? Hello, judges on the state level are elected so they have some authority to answer to if they want to be reelected. But federal and appeals judges are appointed for a reason!! So they'll not be hounded by politicians about their decisions about constitutionality etc.

Get a grip republicans and religious fanatics. The world is not conspiring against you, your children will not be forced to participate in satanic rituals---hell, they don't even have to participate in the atheistic commercial celebration of christmas if you don't want them too. In fact, I encourage all religious fanatics to outlaw santa claus and gift giving. Obviously these things are not in line w/ the "true spirit of the holiday".

But, as much as I normally don't care for the man's views, I have to applaud Senator Bill Frist for refusing to jump on the "punish the judiciary for not interpretting our unconstitutional last moment bill forcing them to reconsider the Schiavo case". Stick to your guns Senator and next election you may have more independent and democratic voters even if you were initially behind the push for the Schiavo bill and compromising Mrs. Schiavo's privacy in the public media by imploring her husband to allow you to examine her.

Wow. That's infuriating! Are they really that blind that they don't see that's exactly what they are doing? And letting Congress and the States vacate Supreme Court rulings? HELLO, CHECKS AND BALANCES?! I learned about that in the third freaking grade. Sheesh.

This has nothing to do with religion—it's about power. The neo-conservatives in congress think checks and balances are a drag. They've been trying to end it for years. First, going after the executive branch during the Clinton years. Now they're going after the judicial branch.
