Monthly update...

Sleep: OMG, better!!!! Though I have a sneaking suspicion that it will rear back up and if it does then that means that it's perimenopause and not "no caffeine after 6pm when you aren't overstressed and sleep deprived thank you very much". trying to stay on schedule, and keep my workouts to morning or well before 8pm to help too. My procrastination with work ain't helping with this.
Workout: back in groove, though i didn't let myself get too far out of shape (I was really my trainer's only winter client since no one else had indoor setup or were nervous having her in). With the oculus 2 and the supernatural app i'm also reliably doing a few days a week on my own and the improved cardio is definitely showing in my strength sessions with my trainer. Honestly will likely go and cancel my gym membership after first vaccine kicks in. have enough stuff now at home to address it, and the only thing i'd possibly get with the other is access to pool and theoretically basketball courts (in practice they were always taken/reserved when i was there anyway).
Work: Burnout brain slowly coming back online, but the flesh is weak and not really interested in desk sitting. i may need to head into the office potentially, but my body is going to make that more difficult. But otherwise most things seem to be going okay.
Body: Overall good thanks to workout. Only hiccup is this damn tailbone pain. This is a longstanding issue that pre-pandemic i always assumed was a combo of long plane flights and crappy seats/ergonomics on said flights and at hotels. Buying a seat cusion to add to seat at worked seemed to help a lot as well.
In pandemic: still hurts sporadically in a very annoying - though typically not excruciating - way. Have finally remembered the only reason i used to use heat with it is I can't travel with anything cold (liquid and planes) so it's been a bit easier to keep from multi-day higher pain levels with my gel pack that hasn't exploded from me sitting/laying on it. *knock on wood* Chiro sometimes manages to get it to knock it off, sometimes not. I did get an x-ray at the end of the year but that was the day that i spaced on the timing of my appointments and didn't take the disc with me so i need to call them to see if they'll mail it to me or let me pick it up for chiro to look at.
Beyond chiro, my other plans to potentially see if it has an impact -- 1) buy a supportive recliner of some sort instead of my current not-together sectionals, 2) see if dropping a few pounds has any impact? might as well actually try some more weight loss now that i'm more settled with workout schedule and can still be at home with flexibility to cook when i want; 3) considering more anti-inflammatory approach with more ginger/tumeric supplements beyond my excedrin [stomach still will NOT tolerate any NSAID so don't suggest the ibuprofen or aleve].
It's not the worst for chronic pain but it definitely makes the doing work better. Fortunately with the standing desk i do get to stand for the course of meetings which helps, but if it's decided to help that's not foolproof and only delaying.
Fandom: any cuts contain spoilers
Watched Bone and Shadow in one sitting. Overall nice enough and I went in with zero understanding of the plot, so it kept me engaged. Not sure how I'd be with the actual book itself though as it definitely didn't catch me that great.
TFAWS - loved it like everyone else. I'm very patiently awaiting for Cherry to tell me she's watched it so i can deluge her in tik toks. Siiigh. Bucky & Sarah for the OTP for me and them both being shits to Sam about it. Found a couple of good fics on this that I need to rec out.
Not sure how I feel with the whole Carter and the shadow broker thing. Especially if they try to establish this as being a long-term thing. If shorter term or her taking over to try to keep it better okay. But if longer term then I feel like they are just retconning everything with regard to her and her legacy, especially in terms of the times she was on AOS (unless I'm mixing in Fanon here)
Speaking of, Agents of Shield. I finally finished the last 3 or so seasons I hadn't watched. Thanks Enver Gjokaj for the incentive to do so. It was very fun and interesting. and for once ahead of the movies? with the Darkhold? (unless that was in Strange. I never watched his movie).
After finishing Elementary, i've been a bit in a rewatch phase. Started Terminator:TSCC which is always interesting (though i still loathe the voiceover). Was playing a bit with Mentalist when I was trying to sleep and ehh. I still love the characters but i get so bored of the actual case and dues ex machina of it all. So i went back to The Closer for whatever reason and am enjoying that a bit more.
Which is probably a long way of saying I should just rewatch 1-2 things and actually try to write something to see if I can spark more joy instead of just passing time.
House: Good if expensive. nothing required, more just an update that ended up being more expensive that i think i talked on more before. Now i'm watching my yard - turns out every corner of my house has a different color azalea bush. Bought a grill for the summer after the one muggy 79 degree day that the house turned into a sauna (to be fair, i left the door/window open too long then took forever to get upstairs to cool down).
Video games: The hunt for a magical, mythical PS5 continues. Ugh. Been tempted to do some of the "verified" resellers on twitter that are offering for actual market price but the insistence on cash app and questions on if i still have a warranty then have me nervous.
But as of friday, Mass Effect Legendary Edition comes out!! Excited to see how much they manage to erase off the stupid elevator rides of forever!!.

Date: 2021-05-13 01:48 pm (UTC)And while I have remained mostly spoiler free, I have been exposed to some of the "controversy" and can confirm that I will likely also be Bucky/Sarah OTP (but in the way where that doesn't also preclude my Bucky/Steve OTP :p)
