5000 posts in 6 years

Can anyone believe it's been 6 years (as of May 5)? Or that I've made 5000 posts? Okay, well, yes, a lot of those were beck from when I did news posts as a way to avoid thinking about hell lab and all, but still. 5000. Given that those of you that have been with me for much of that time haven't hit 5000, I don't know if I like what that says about me, but ah well.

This post has gone through a lot of drafts because I couldn't figure out the approach to take (and thanks, flist, for all the suggestions /sarcasm :P). I don't want to be mopey, I don't want to leave people out, and I want this to be fun. So it's going to be a catchall post! (In which I may hit the figure limit for the first time in a non-fanfic post). Also, hattip to halcyon_shfit for the idea.

We Don't Live Here Anymore - Jakob Dylan
Actually heard this album in Barnes and Noble yesterday, knew it was Jakob Dylan, but assumed it was Wallflowers. So far my love for this is very centered around the sound and haven't gotten to the point of analyzing lyrics. Jakob's voice always hits my sound kink, I love the arrangement, and this is one of the songs on the album that Neko Case's backing vocals really shine. Definitely recommend the album Women and Country to any Wallflower fans.

Stupid Thing - Nickel
Sound kink for the win! If everything Nickel did sounded like this, they would be my favorite band ever. Also, awesome lyrics that epitomizes the danger of drunk dialing, or any after relationship act.

Swing Life Away - Rise Against
If you haven't heard any version of this, you must. Try to find the acoustic version. I heard this on a random audio session on a local radio station and fell in love. Was rather surprised when I bought an album and discovered that they are rather very hard rock. Appeal to Reason is the album of their's that I prefer as it's bit more commercial and less on the metal side. However, the acoustic version of this song really lets the vocals of the singer shine, and it also captures a piece of Americana similar to John Mellencamp. Love it.

Kiss Kiss - Hint
This hits my almost swing kink button. Love the song, very fast paced, reminscent of Panic at the Disco but without the esoteric lyrics. I will find the fandom that this fits and convince someone to vid to this (or to I Want it To Feel Like Love)

Busted - Matchbox 20
This song has been one of my sound kinks since I got the album way back in the 90s. One of the very few songs where Rob Thomas's voice has the perfect scratchy deepness, absolute love of the lyrics (which I always wanted to see made into a Brimstone vid for some reason)

Fuck Your Fear - The Walkabouts
throaty sound kink, with gritty arrangement, and desperate lyrics. 'Nuff said.

I Want All of You; Medicate Myself - The Verve Pipe
It's almost impossible for me to separate these songs. I Want All of You is lovely, desperate love song that almost crosses the line to stalkery without going the Death Cab for Cutie safety line, while Medicate Myself is classic problem addiction song. Both feature the classic scratchy vocals of Verve Pipe that I can never get enough of. I don't think I'll ever overplay these two songs.

the axis of evil. This was born of the Adventures of Poisontaster time, in which Azuremonkey and I kept throwing clowns into the meta, and most of the people participating in the event had a clown phobia to put it mildly. So in the end, Azuremonkey and I joined forces, created the Axis of Evil coalition, and drafted fleshlycherry to be our third since she was the only other one that didn't have a clown phobia. Oh, and our penchant for plot bunny attacks may also have contributed to our naming.

It was realy a shame when our the bunnies on our plot bunny farm developed a taste for human flesh. I never cried so hard as when I had to leave sabaceanbabe behind when the army evacuated the area so the nuclear bomb could be set off before OT3 infected every television show on the air.

a. My favorite thing about that character.
One? One?? Okay, Michael angry. And I don't mean mad. I mean ANGRY. hawt. and wonderful tv.

b. My least favorite thing about that character.
His complete and unending need to get the burn notice lifted. On the one hand, entire point of show. On the other, after 2 or so years, you'd think he'd take a step back and evaluate life. Then again, Victor was a real life lesson.

c. One person I would ship them with in their own verse.
Honestly, right now it's pretty much only Fi. At one time I had hopes that they'd do enough with Paxson's character that she'd work, but they never did. Not sure if that was a failure of the writers, or the actress (despite how much I loved her on Journeyman).

d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat.
Again, one?? Also, do you know how many bunnies even contemplating that is creating?? Parker (leverage) because that is the least cannabalistic bunny that was spawned into being by that question. The better question would be, is there a crossover ship that I don't think would potentially work?

e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater.
We know I like WC/BN, and everyone else does too. I've also had fun with WC/FF. You know what might be terrifying because of the sheer amount of damage created? BN/Farscape.

Junior year, when I finally took some of my gen ed credits, I really really enjoyed my intro to Poly Sci class. And the professor tried to recruit me to major in it because he thought I was a freshman. Imagine the world with jebbypal as a politician.

2. If you had to eat only three kinds of food for a year, what would you go with?
What, are you trying to scare me? I'm not limited enough? Okay, perfect world where I can eat anything at all:
- Arby's roast beef sandwiches (not sure if the UK is familiar with these. But Arby's sauce is literally the manna of the gods and I miss these keenly
- chocolate milk
- chimichangas, baby. Mmmm...one of the many things I miss about mexican food.

I took spanish in high school, but remember next to nothing of it. Mandarin or cantonese would have been fun so I could eavesdrop on my old labmates (and make fun of the speech in firefly

None so far. Probably after I return from conference in June, I'll start to try to map out when will be the best time to take longer vacation, and estimate finances to make a decision.
