take a gander at the writings of Dinosaur (dr). He makes a good point: regular seasonal flu killed 36,000 this year. We still haven't had that many cases of swine flu.
eta this is not to say that if you are in a vulnerable population (elderly, very young, immunocompromised etc) that you shouldn't take normal flu season precautions).
