Slept pretty good till 1 or 2 then woke with a bit of a headache. Which is probably due to the febreeze like smell that wafted out of a/c before I turned it off. (minor bitch: when I ask for a non-smoking room, I should also be given the opportunity to ask for a non-scented room)

Fell back asleep, but wasn't as good due to lumpy nature of pillows and new environment. As a result, dreams. Lots of dreams. Lots of very vivid dreams.

The one I clearly, clearly remember was being back in high school. And I was being constantly mad about things that may or may not have had any relevance (soccer team changing tactics based on 2 people deciding something without consulting rest of team; calling my english teach a douche -- absolutely no clue where that came from). Elaborate plans for how to get to school that involved going w/ my mom to arrive early for something but with understanding that we'd have to return home where I'd left my things and lunch bag. And then she "ditched" me and I was even angrier resulting in me being angrier and basically cursing at everyone imaginable.

And then they expelled me. And I was just ticked off that they'd done this when all I'd done was curse since I hadn't caused any personal or property damage.

Very very surreal given that I didn't read any fic or watch any tv last night. And I do not think I can blame the mini-suits marathon I had with Cherry before I left canada.

Very very bizarre. As a result, I did not feel like I slept much (because that was how vivid the dreams were) and my sinus headache was slightly worse when my alarm went off at 5. Got up, grabbed phone, turned it off, secure in knowledge I'd set a subsequent alarm for 6 am.

Not sure if it went off or if turning one off automatically turned the other off, but finally woke up at 7:30. *face palm* So much for my early start. Ah well. If you can't sleep in on your last day of vacation, you might as well do everything you can to get expelled from school, eh?

Sometimes, I wonder if I'm doomed to be underwhelmed by the things that everyone else says should be amazing. But then I remember, no, I enjoyed San Diego in my own way, and I still want to go back to Kiawah Islands when I have money to actually do stuff, and figure no, I just have a different scale of the world.

Niagara Falls (which apparently I always spell wrong), is nice, but way too touristy. And after the 1st 10 shots of the falls, I feel like "Is that all there is?" *cue the firewater*. If you go, skip the imax movie of fury of niagara. Waste of money and just a nice way to get dunked in water. Unimpressed by the "walk behind the falls" as I didn't realize it was manmade tunnels through to certain observatory looks (2 of which just show you water streaming down). One was pretty, but I was expecting something a little more rugged and awe inspiring. After getting wet for not much pay off, think I'm skipping the Maid of the Mist boat tour since it looks like just a down below view of the falls while packed on a boat with a bunch of people. I may still do the white water rapid walk -- May stop off and take a look to determine what the lines are like.

Of course, none of this is helped by the migraine that started when I was doing the walk behind the falls thing. Not sure if there was something spice wise on my burger, if it's weather/altitude combo, or what, but I'm ready for it to be gone.

Hotel is cute and functional, but next to a busy highway, and since there's no a/c, windows are open and it's noisy. Beds, while better than the boards I slept on in Barcelona, leave a lot to be desired. But it is clean, has a coffee pot, microwave, and mini-fridge, and the bathroom is actually cleaner/nicer than some upscale places I've stayed at.

so going to see if there's anything I'm interested in doing tonight as well as plan see what I'm doing tomorrow. If headache doesn't go away after this cup of coffee the night may just be another return trip to the Greek diner (souvlaki with pita that didn't make me sick!), maybe trying to figure out the tv channels here, and bed.

Also, I'm going to be very annoyed if I get home to large cell phone bill. I've turned off data roaming, but when I'm in downtown, my phone reverts to ATT and saying 3g, making me think we're close enough to the border to receive US cell signals. Fingers crossed.

So last night didn't go quite how I'd imagined, courtesy of migraine (probably caffeine + sleep induced and a little barometric pressure thrown in for good measure). However, sleeping in my bed was LOVELY- my mattress at home is quite firm and then the mattress at my friend's was about as firm as just sleeping on the floor. Amazingly, my body didn't rebel much all week but my mattress was definitely appreciated last night.

AT&T store on the east coast is ever more helpful and nice than the one in OK. Immediate service, and a free phone w/ bluetooth (though I could see the guy wilt at the thought of no real commission. Sorry, but I'm so over paying extra for a phone now that you have more than ONE that actually works on your network. Not to mention not really needing anything other than bluetooth, text, and camera. Yay for not easily able to hit the internet button anymore). Got a very plain nokia - bulky, but light. Works with the car with no problem.

Flight back was no where near as painful as the flight to OK. I did have nightmares about the plane buzzing a NY baseball stadium and then deciding to go under overpasses. And then it got worse - the punishment for the pilots when I reported it was for them to do a stip tease for the airport employees in the food court (which I was graciously allowed to watch). Not cool since they were 55 in my dream. *shudders* Needless to say, I was not anxious to sleep more on the plane after that.

Bought the wonderful portuguese chicken to take to work as a treat for everyone, got on the turnpike but was forced into the semi expressway lane since the car only exit was under construction. I have NEVER driven with that many semis before in my life and I've spent a good portion of time driving on I40, I45, I35, and I70 in the midwest. It was NOT fun. 10 minutes later I took the first damn exit to get away from that crap and back to the car only expressway part. Also, transitioning back to Jersey traffic after a week in OK/AK traffic is not easy. However, I did love having my car back as did my shoulder (stupid gold beast of an american SUV always makes my rotator cuff go twangy after extended periods of driving. And 600 miles in 2 days qualifies).

Anyways, slept in despite intending to go to gym *mmm soft bed*, but still woke up awake (unlike before my vacation). So off to work - I think it will be a good thing to have this one day of transition. And next week is a 6 day work week since I'm swapping a day so I can get off for B's defense (have I gone into this yet?).

From skip 340, it looked like you guys had a decent time while I was away (SNAP). I gave up after that though. (And yes, LD, I did see your desktop meme and you are evil for taunting me with something I can't know yet...there shall be ninja revenge, yes there shall.)

Oooh, one other thing - my allergies didn't seem to react too badly to my friend's beagle mix mutt. At least, skin and ears didn't get itchy. There may have been some congestion, but it was hard to tell since the damn weather wouldn't stop changing.
