To all new followers, sorry this has become a complaint zone. The side effect of living alone is that when you are in pain, you have to talk about it somewhere. :(
Finally managed to sleep for 4 hours straight last night. Not sure if the throat swelling is actually going down (given that you can see it externally now and it doesn't look to be less internally), or if I just found the magic position. Apparently side sleeping results in it drying out which makes me wake in pain when I finally swallow. But back sleeping at an incline works.
Okay, off to make some pureed chicken soup that will hopefully be edible. because opening my mouth is problematic and swallowing solids definitely ain't happening.
If this hasn't gotten better by tomorrow (48 hours after starting antibiotics) I'm definitely going back to see if i need steroids.
I really don't remember strep being this bad as a kid (I had it chronically from age 6 to 10 until they threatened to take my tonsils out and it mysteriously disappeared). Online forums have people talking about the pain lasting for anywhere from 3-10 days and I just can't. I don't know if it's I have a shit pain tolerance or just my knowledge of how limited my pain treatment options are with my corn allergy (because trust me, I've done this enough times to know that it's not worth it to try something only to have the pain become worse or have nothing happen to the pain but suffer from 8 hours of GI distress) making me obsess over it more.
How bad of an idea is coffee? I don't think I have to worry about caffeine withdrawal given the amount of excedrin I'm taking, but yeah, tea just doesn't cut it. .......
