I've told a couple of people this, but I thougtht I'd go ahead and throw it out for my flist. While not a reason to avoid GJ, it is something to remember.

I know those "2000" icons spaces make a lot of people drool. But if you don't post on your account for a period of time (not sure how long exactly, when it happened to me, I couldn't find the exact number), GJ reserves teh right to delete all your icons except your default one. That way, they don't have to worry about people only using them for icon storage and linking back to their icons but never posting.

So yeah, free, 2000 icons, but don't spend all that time uploading unless you are going to make the switch.

*which, well, I still enjoy LJ, so I really hope everyone doesn't switch. though i do have a gj as well for lj outages*

From GJ's faq:

Why are all my icons/images missing?

Occasionallyimages and icons are purged from the database to free up space. Thisonly happens to journals that have not been used for an extended amountof time. Currently there is no set timeframe for these purges.

Unfortunately, once the images have been purged they areunrecoverable from GreatestJournal's servers and will need to bereuploaded.
