Let the countdown begin!
Dec. 29th, 2020 11:06 am2 more days and we'll find out if we do indeed manage to escape 2020. *watches clock intently* And not a moment too soon given that my guts finally decided enough was enough and had an attack last week that was not necessarily allergy but i can't rule it out (no fever, no other symptoms, and really only a few hours at the worst). The main worry is that my body has decided that the maltodextrin that the german company lactojoy uses isn't corn free and is deciding that i need to give up noncooked dairy until/unless GNC starts making theirs again. :(
I had a glorious 5 days off in a row (1 PTO, plus our holiday off time for Xmas eve and xmas, and a weekend) that left me unmotivated enough that i boooked a PTO retroactively for yesterday at work. Which i'd like to do for the whole week, but i do actually have a good amount of work I need to accomplish before the 4th despite pretty much EVERYONE else in the company being off. oh well.
Quiet days were had. Wednesday a work coworker whose bubble i share came over for some baking and dinner and we managed to go a couple of hours without talking about work. Unfortunately, i have found that I should not try new baking recipes when also drinking tequila. The brownies were mostly a bust since I only make them once or twice a year, but i did make the pecan pie muffins that were excellent (if a direct hit of sugar).
And I've spent the past week eating ham chowder so i'm a bit tired of that now. [only good thing of 2020 is regaining my ability to eat high end store bought stock so that making soups is a snap now vs when i had to make my own plus then make the soup].
What did I do over the holiday? Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. TV and reading. a few hours of video games.
TV:
Bridgerton. Liked it for what it was. And enough so that i bought the 1st three bridgerton books which were nice and mindless reading.
Britannia S1. Actually really liked this. Nice plot. good acting. Lovely comedic timings bits that reminded me a bit of some rosencrantz and guildenstern bits i've seen in the past. Will probably activate epix for a bit to watch s2 during NY break.
Elementary. I started watching this earlier in December out of hopes of putting me to sleep like it used to and it... didn't. but it has been so long since I watched the early seasons that i didn't remember most of it beyond the major spoilers. S1 remains a high point as it was also before Miller started doing the straight arms almost pointing behind his back at all times that annoys me. But overall am enjoying it quite and by binging it the continuity of the character growth is really nice. Lovely of a procedural to not knock you over head with the case reinforcing the moral but rather just filling spaces while letting people to learn and grow. REally enjoying it. (and am midway through S4 to give you an idea of how many episodes i've been watching per day).
Reading.
Bridgerton novels
some fanfic
What have I not done? finished organizing the upstairs. My coworker coming over did give me the kick in the pants to do the downstairs which is good (and emphasizes how i'll have to stay on top of it since I don't have the convenient enclosed porch or mudroom that I used to let boxes pile up in.)
