Umm, if peter's really dead, i'm going to be very sad. there's really not any of the other characters that i like as much. But yay, he didn't kill all of new york.

ETA...I saw in another person's lj someone make a very valid point. First, let's recount peter's powers (which would be a good reason for killing him -- at this point, he pretty much makes everyone else and superman irrelevant):
1) flying (nathan)
2) indestructible (claire)
3) mind reading (parkman)
4) invisibility (whathisface)
5) super strength (jessica/nikki)
6) possibly telekinesis (sylar)

So, all he really needs to do is touch Hiro to get time travel, possibly see if he can absorb the haitian's powers (wtf happened to him? I know he died in the future, but why did he just DISAPPEAR in these last few episodes?), and maybe absorb Molly's powers, and we have our perfect mutant policeman. Assuming absolute power doesn't corrupt absolutely.

Which basically means the writers almost need to kill him because what could they possibly encounter that the other core heroes wouldn't be able to call peter and say "hey, we need you to do X and save the world again". Unless Peter is currently repeatedly suffocating in low earth orbit.

Which, all these things annoy me because the Heroes' writers seem to suffer from Bellisario' disease. aka "let's throw in infinite plot twists until we must resolve it by the dumbest means possible". Nathan could have flown away. He could have also probably just asked someone to "temporarily" kill him and shut off the chain reaction. Or at the very least, he and claire could have tested that theory out in some nice deserted area at some point maybe.

But yes, having peter do it all himself would again, make the rest of the show unnecessary so someone had to sacrifice themselves or help him to generate the larger narrative.

Except again, dumb.

But I can hope that possibly peter's alive and we still get scar!peter from the force of impact of his body on the sculpture?
