What's really the strategy behind the dismissal of US attorneys?

Fascinating article in which the fact that Congress's subpoena power is almost for show if they don't have the backing of the judiciary to enforce subpoenas of the executive branch.

So if the executive branch castrates the judiciary at both the judge (as it has for the last 7 years on all levels) level and the US prosecutor level, where does that leave Congress?

Of course, impeachment would still be a recourse. If Congress has any balls left...

And this all boils down to: Bush vows to block all efforts by Congress to subpoena staff in prosecutor probe (commentary is even saying he threw a tantrum...as if that's new).

I know, I mean, before this, I understood the frufuraw, but I didn't see the percentage other than possibly shutting down a few investigations. But now, it's like, "I dare you to impeach me when I only have a year left in my presidency and refuse to let you have a hope in hell of withdrawing troops overseas"
