You know, it's really nice to write emails to folks that you only stay in intermittent contact with and actually have good news to tell them (rather than the, "yes I'm still in depressing grad school and the health of everyone i know is going to crap" emails of the past five years). The responses are decidely more smile inducing:)

I did not get a lazy morning. In fact, I didn't even get a good night sleep since there was no wind ever last night (stupid weather service forecasts) and so my apartment was too hot to be conducive to good sleep. or much sleep.) Had to get up early and go to the dentist...who seems bound and determined to not let me leave this place without getting one more filling. I skipped my filling apointment last year for the "soft spot" that they'd been watching for three years that the new dentist (I go to the dental school because it's cheaper, even though I now use the faculty rather than the students. Couldn't take any more three hour student cleanings. Jaws aren't meant to be open for that long, yo) decided must be filled. No mention of said soft spot, but there was a "shadow" on one of my teeth on the bite wings and apparently this place insists on a comprehensive exam w/ panoramic xrays every few years because he was very disturbed I hadn't had them since 2001.

*rolls eyes* I'd only ever had panoramics twice before in my life -- once as a little kid because they wanted to make sure I didn't have the problem my brother did with "missing" permanent teeth and then once when I was making such a ruckus over the amount of pain in my head from the wisdom teeth they could never see on the bite wings (I have very very small mouth. In fact, it's pretty impossible for me to bite down on adult bite wing film).

So I get to go pay a hundred dollars for them to do that -- which I figure, what the hey. At least then I'll know that if I don't immediately find a new dentist for a year or so, all it means is stained teeth.

Ohh, and the sonicare toothbrush -- so much better than the oral b power toothbrush. There was very very very little scaling this time. I also had a kickass hygenist (FOR ONCE) who didn't slice my gums to pieces. I swear, most of my gum recession is from overly enthusiastic scaling and nothing else.

Speaking of appointments, methinks I need to go back to the eye doctor. Since we have the hockey game tonight and my head does not deal with metal on my ears in the cold at all, I wore my contacts to work today. I haven't been wearing my contacts much at all just because the air at work sometimes bothers my eyes and is very dry. But wow, I'm actually kinda having trouble seeing. I have no problem w/ my glasses, so I think it's just my contact prescription. Then again, maybe I've just forgotten how to wear contacts. I think I'm squinting just because I don't feel my glasses on. Still, I think I'll go "play" w/ my lab notebook or something to stop looking at the computer cause at this rate I'm going to give myself a headache.

Anti-reflective coating for glasses, the greatest thing since sliced bread. Seriously.
