Owwww..
stupid stupid stupid. Even as I did it, I knew it probably wouldn't end well. There's one knob missing from the row of benches at the gym that allows you to adjust position. Rather than unscrewing another, i decided to see if I couldn't go ahead and push the lever in and get a grip on the bolt to change it.
Short story -- yes, but not before the weight of what i was adjusting fell on my finger. Thankfully it was only the bottom portion of a bench seat. Since I've had a broken finger before, I'm fairly certain I didn't break the joint (still bends, just oowwwww) and it missed the nail so I shouldn't lose the nail. Nice size bump on the side of my last joint though. Fortunately it's on my left hand so it won't interfere w/ much lab work. Though we'll see how well I type once the finger thaws out from the walk home.
Course, was bound to happen. I haven't had any sort of accident in a long long while.
