Mermaid tears may be polluting the ocean's food chains

I love how we always have to wait for a problem to be proven multiple times before we do anything. I know I'm definitely going to think twice before using plastic bags from now on.

The Sydney Aquarium had a display about the macroscopic plastic problem -- namely plastic bags. It was interesting because they showed how a bag can move from animal to animal being ingested and how quickly after the animal died it be released back into the environment to cause more damage. Very sad.

Well, of course! Why address a problem when we can see it coming down the road? We'll just pretend it doesn't exist, stick our fingers in our ears, sing "La la lalalala!" and wait for the problem to tackle us and sit on our heads.
