Can I just say thank whatever power that King Bush wasn't in charge when HIV was appearing in the '80s??

We probably wouldn't have any therapies for it since it only affects "amoral" people. Gaaah. (This article actually deals w/ Merck and GSK's problems getting HPV vaccines for cervical cancer approved).

BestWorst line: "I personally object to vaccinating children when they don't needvaccinations, particularly against a disease that is one hundred percent preventable with proper sexual behavior," Leslee J. Unruh, thefounder and president of the Abstinence Clearinghouse, said. "Premarital sex is dangerous, even deadly. Let's not encourage it by vaccinating ten-year-olds so they think they're safe.""I personally object to vaccinating children when they don't needvaccinations, particularly against a disease that is one hundred percent preventable with proper sexual behavior," Leslee J. *beats head into desk*

This stuff just blows my mind.

Let's not encourage it by vaccinating ten-year-olds so they think they're safe.

Yeah, because there are all sorts of kids out there thinking 'Gosh I'd love to have sex, but I'm really worried I'll get a disease that will give me cancer years down the road. Guess I better not.' *rolls eyes*

Course, without comprehensive sex ed, they won't know about all the other diseases they could get from having sex, so she might actually have a point. (I really need to stop with the sarcasm today)

And I suppose there's no point in mentioning to this person that sometimes women and girls are forced into having sex against their will and it sure would be nice to be protected from at least one of the many bad outcomes from that.

it's not about your posts matching mine. they shouldn't. you aren't me. it's about a snark that undermines a very legitimate issue.
