And for those who have, this is to be speculation about what the frak is going on before all our ideas our made AU.


Okay, new season starting so I figured it was time for us to have some fun speculating. new season starts what, Tuesday? *reminds self to get VCR hooked up and tested*

Anyways, so what are everyone's favorite theories so far? Hmm, hmm? Specifically -

1. What in the hell is John playing at?



2. Okay, so exactly why is Sammy being targeted? I mean, if they wanted to kill him, why not just make him spontaneously combust in the crib already.



3. Feel free to offer solioquies about Dean. The altar to teh hotness is over there. *points*



4. So, do you really think that Sam did NO ghost hunting in college? I mean come on, I totally see him doing something some halloween. *looses demonic plot bunnies*



5. And anything I'm forgetting.

My own: Hey, it's my speculation meme, I can force you to read my theories if I want! *pouts*
--So my favorite theory is that John's dead and he's haunting his sons as he attempts to mend fences with Sam. And that Dean totally knows. Probably a complete load of BS, but hey, when the only people to talk to him have been the two who can see ghosts and are psychic, well. *shrugs*
--Sammy with the bullseye. Dean's said ghosts are "attracted" to those with ESP or whatever he has. So maybe ghosty in the hat just came to satisfy his curiosity about the baby. But then decided to torment the family. And now is trying to drive Sam insane so he can possess him? *shrugs* Hmm, maybe Jess was pregnant? I dunno, this thing confuses the shit out of me and they haven't given us enough clues. *hates on hiatus break*

Other interesting theories to be added to Come on, get to replying. Slackers.
Most cracktastic: from kurukami - Perhaps children with a reservoir of psychic power draw spirits and the like as an oasis of fresh water draws someone parched of thirst, for reasons beyond what we might understand. To increase their own power, to break beyond the bounds of what parapsychological limitations their classification might have placed upon them. (You know, geographical borders and whatnot.)

Evil spawn: from ignipes - A theory I'm rather fond of is that little Sammy isn't John son after all, but the son of some EvilFieryCeilingDemonSpawnThing. Or something. That's why The Ghost of Mummy Dearest told him she was sorry (though it would have been helpful if she had, you know, explained). Because cheating on your husband is one thing, but cheating on your husband with a Creature of EVIL!!!1!! is something else entirely. Maybe Sammy's being targeted by this thing not to kill him, but to get rid of people around him. (Or at least the ladies around him.) And being targeted by other things just because he's such an easy target. ;) She also offers up a plot bunny for the college question.

Oooooooh, it works, I totally agree with you. Dean is totally someone that HAS to have a purpose and having a purpose makes all the other shit of life worth it.

I should totally be writing my PhD on the Grand Unified Theory of Dean, because I spend more time thinking about it than I do about geophysics. *sigh*

Totally with you there. If only doing experiments or reading immunology articles was as much fun as fandom or plot bunnies. I'd have totally finished my phd in four years instead of slaving away still in my sixth.

I'm in my fifth year of the PhD program, with no end in sight... *sigh*

Oh! And while I was driving home I thought of an extension of my Grand Unified Theory of Dean. I suspect, on some level, there's a part of Dean that's actually afraid to find their father. It all goes back to that darling boy's serious abandonment issues -- so long as Dad is off somewhere doing something, sending them coordinates from time to time, Dean can pretend that Dad is doing something Very Important With Good Reasons.

But once they find actually find Dad, he runs the risk that maybe Dad isn't going to have good answers to questions like, "Why did you leave without telling me?" and "Didn't you trust me to help you?" and "Why didn't you come when I asked for help?" (Not that the Winchesters would ever have that conversation. They would just glare at each other and leave the fangirls to fill in the blanks.)

I don't think Sam gets that. (Okay, there's a lot about Dean that Sam doesn't get.) All he sees is Dean following orders, never once thinking that maybe Dean's following orders because it's better than the alternative: admitting the possibility that maybe Dad has no use for him anymore.

Whew. I'm rambly today! Sorry, but this is what happens when you're on my flist and you ask for speculation. *sheepish grin*

*skids to stop* Is it too late for me to jump in on all this?? I completely agree with the GUT of Dean as presented by ignipes. It's something I've explored before (though not in this fandom) and written about; the idea of someone who is a complete misfit in ordinary circumstances, primarily because what they're good at is geared towards more extraordinary circumstances (which generally happen in the course of the story). Dean IS damn good at what he does, whatever Sam thinks about it, and while its not a "normal" life (or one with a lot of longevity), it's a pretty good life as far as it goes.

My theory is the "mom isn't what she seemed/seems to be" theory at the moment, also based on her apology in "Home". I think she might have either been a supernatural creature herself or something like a witch or psychic. And Dean's more like John, but she passed it on to Sam, which explains why Sam's such a magnet for that sort of thing and Dean isn't. I don't think John's dead (although I did have that thought), but I do think he's found out there was more to Mary than met the eye, and he's afraid that the boys might have 'it', whatever 'it' is, and thus is keeping his distance. Firstly because he's afraid he might have to kill them, if they turn out to be somehow inherently evil, and secondly because he does love them and his sense of betrayal would extend to them as well as Mary.

Hehehe, we do like a misfit. But I'm thinking the Grand Unified Theory needs to be renamed the Grand Unified Hypothesis (incorrect scientific usage of the words notwithstanding), because then the acronym can be GUH.

Anyway, I never really thought that it might be Mommy herself who was special or not quite humand. That would be a neat twist.

Firstly because he's afraid he might have to kill them, if they turn out to be somehow inherently evil, and secondly because he does love them and his sense of betrayal would extend to them as well as Mary.

If that's the case? Oh, the angst. To have to face the fact that his own boys might be what he's been trying to kill all these years? And for the boys to have to face that? That would be awesome.

I second the change to GUH...because looking at the GUT of Dean was giving the giggles and the GUH of Dean is FAR more appropiate. Ahem.
