Woohoo, my apartment is clean. Or rather, cleaner than it's been in a while. Used new vacuum---and really glad I didn't work out this morning. The thing has little to no self-propulsion (which my other one actually did do very well as long as the belt didn't break), but boy, does it ever have suction. Was amazed at how much it pulled up (a distinct drawback of the clear "cup" versus a bagged vacuum. You really feel like Pig-Pen once you are done! And it's official. Within one month's time, I lose enough hair to make a full wig. Really. Also vaccuumed the futon and then decided to do a full dusting. OR as close to that as I ever get since I refuse to pull all the book's off the shelves (since that would be recipe for injury as small as my place is). I even pulled out the humidifier and set it up so I can use it when I return in Jan. It is covered in a plastic dry cleaner bag so it doesn't get dusty when I'm gone (cause really, this place will be littered in dust when I return do to the cracks in the a/c).

Talked to my mom -- she seems to still be doing relatively well. Except for her tendency to ramble and no ability to remember when she's talked to me last or about what due to all the meds.

Soooo, question for folks on my flist cause really, I'm at a loss. I'm trying to think of what to get my mom for xmas that will be useful during her recovery. My original idea of Benson DVDs is pretty much Kaput due to it not being out on DVD. I can't think of another TV show that she'd definitely enjoy (and I'm not going to do what she said and get westerns for my dad. Well I might, but not a ton cause I know she hates them). She admitted that her concentration right now probably isn't good enough to play a video game -- which I'd already kind of ruled out since we'd have to figure out how to get her set up close enough to a TV (especially as I consider her eyesight). Books are probably out for the same reason. She doesn't knit or sew ....and probably shouldn't as bad as her circulation in her hands is on the off chance she cuts herself. Which kind of leaves music...I could probably find something decent for her to listen to, but well, that's not very distracting and doesn't really help time pass very well.

I'm kinda considering paying for them for netflix for a few months or something, but they only have dial-up. Does anyone know anyone that has netflix over dialup? I don't know how infuriating it might be to search for movies to put on your queu at 56K.

Anyone else got any ideas? And remember, she doesn't really have much mobility. And a bad rotator cuff.

Thanks for the help.
