Question for the metric bunch

jebbypalSoooo....when you give a person's weight in metric, is it in kilograms? The equivalent of gaining say thirty pounds...what would that be? yes, I know I could do the conversion, but I don't have my calculator...and I don't know if you would actually measure a person's weight in kilograms. Seems like that would be too mcuh. Some help please!
