Every week, every new formula, he waits to see someone new emerge from the paranoia and traumatized child that inhabits the body of his sister. Despite her problems, he loves her and she is his entire world now. Yet he still can't help but want more for her than just her freedom and company.
She was such a joy to watch grow up. He was never jealous of her even as she surpassed his accomplishments at the age of three. After all, he'd taught her and lavished attention on her when their parents couldn't be bothered to find the time. Her accomplishments were always his and he was the one she ran to share them with first.
His anger at the Academy is all consuming. They robbed him of so much – the chance to hear about her first date or her first love. The opportunity to help her choose a college and watch as she blossomed in whatever fields she chose to dedicate herself to.
He feels guilty for his anticipation. It should be enough to have her back. Still, he analyzes every joke and tear for the emergence of someone new. For River's rebirth.
