*sniff* So...I have to give up my "proud serenity spoiler virgin" icon. Despite what I'd heard about Regal cinemas not showing the trailer w/ Hitchhiker...they showed it!!! And I couldn't force myself to look away since I had to wash out the pitiful crap that was the Star Wars Trailer preceding it!!
Hitchhiker--I enjoyed it..more than I ever enjoyed the book. I couldn't make myself even finish the book ever just because I've never done well reading disjointed styles---hated every minute of A Thousand Years of Solitude even as I admit that it is one of the most beautiful books I have written w/ regards to syntax, language, and symbolism. My mind just doesn't flow that way easily and when I read I prefer to not be thrown out of it by writing style.
But the movie was good...It was funny and cute. Good acting..good directing, and over all a reasonably good movie despite the empty theater.
Okay .... um...yeah..This is wierd, I hate to say it, and please don't defriend me for it. I found the trailer *blah* I don't know why. Maybe it is because for the most part it is devoid of spoilers, maybe because I think I'm going to have major problems dealing w/ what they did w/ Jayne's hair...thank god they didn't do it to Wash (and yumm..still good body from I, Robot, yumm). Anyway...I'm not going to let it bother me too much--trailer is designed to appeal to a hopefully wide audience.
I dunno...I know I'm just experiencing ennui because I feel like the movie is going to not be at all like watching an episode and that is the feeling I want. I had the same feeling when I was watching PK Wars...it wasn't like a true episode or even episode arc of Farscape. It was a movie. PK Wars managed to focus on at least John/Aeryn to a large degree, but at the sacrifice of not being able to look much at the rest of the crew for the most part except for glancing shots. As a result, it felt hurried for a lack of a better word. And I fear that is exactly what I'll feel w/ Serenity as well...and scared as hell because one thing you never, ever feel generally w/ a Whedon product is hurried.
But I will do my best to trust in Joss. And hope like hell that the line "I aim to misbehave" doesn't sound as bad in context as is does out of context. *shudders* Still....I'd rather watch the Serenity trailer for 2 hrs than Star Wars III thank you very much!
So the Serenity Spoiler virgin icon is no more...though I do aim to do my best to avoid ANY more spoilers. *cries*

Date: 2005-05-01 10:23 pm (UTC)You need to use that in a fic, I dare you!
And...you can still use it, note that the icon said, Serenity Spoiler Virgin.
Not Serenity Spoiler Trailer Virgin.
Unless, you go out and glutton yourself on spoilers, because, you know, I can send some tidbits out your way.
And the movie ain't gonna be an episode, sadly, it's what I said from the beginning when the mentioned of the making of the movie came out. But I'll take what I can get. The trailer was spoiler free, just the basic story summary, which can be read at the website. And which has been stated, like everywhere before trailer came out.
And the trailer, yes, mainstreamed, however it was to hook new viewers in, or viewers in general. That's what a trailer is supposed to do. I was just so happy to see my fandom on the screen again, any format etc.
But Mal looked hot. You know he did. :sighs wistfully at N.F.:
