I mean so far the only home improvement I've done is the siding and the downstairs blinds. Blinds being the only project that didn't end up with surprise extra work with extra $$

But now with the new year we have:
--Broken thermostat leading to rewired humidifier / heat system leading to melted hvac motherboard
--Blown off chimney cap leading to repair a couple of shingles to your waterproofing on roof is shot to we need to replace all of it because the boards under it are original to houses and too old
--HVAC refrigerant again all leaked out leading to leak search - still waiting for final total but have a leak into 2 places (though condenser is fine)
--SURPRISE sewage pipe damage 2.0 - landscaper apparently managed to damage a clean out cap that was an old style and force it into the pipe so that gets to be replaced. Initial investigation indicates it's not gone under road and they can replace pipe by hand. fingers crossed that is the case and we stay in the <5K category.

Would have been nice to spend my bonus on home improvement instead of home repair. Sigh.

Work: Problem manchild let go. My workload has halved since i don't have to redo all his work now.

Vacation plans changed to staycation unexpectedly but I guess it's good since it means i noticed the sewer 2.0 issue and am not spending extra money.

excuse me while I bask on porch in sun (aka the aspect of the house i fell in love with when i was househunting in the first place)
