Well, interesting TV returns! I'd forgotten how much I'd miss the somewhat serious fluff of Shameless. And it's over the top enough that my embarrassment squick doesn't get triggered.

Speaking of, thank you Good Wife for having an ep that hails back to your classic season 1. Actual character building without overt telling. Sorry, the past 3 or so eps of good wife had left me blase and I don't think I even finished one of them. But this was classic. ( Read more... )

I have a bunny. I blame fleshly cherry. Now I need to decide if I'll be shooting myself in the foot to actually plot it (my muse is fickle and easily bored) or if I should just go ahead and start writing it for the 2 of us, to be shared at a later date with a wider whole if it doesn't fizzle and die.

Speaking of, I need to go and poke cherry.

Secret of Soup

I think I've discovered the absolute secret to making kick ass soup - always include a tsp to a tablespoon of bacon grease in the oil mixture used to saute veggies/meat. First the beef stew, now my ham chowder. Mmmmmmm, bacon. :)

Also, I am in love with my new gps unit. I might marry it. (the old one that was perfectly functional started having problems connecting to its power cord to charge). First, the screen is much improved - more like iphone glass screen than the old fashioned lcd touchscreen thing. Which means that it is much more visible when wearing polarized sunglasses in the daylight! So much better to not have to lift my prescription sunglasses and then squint at the screen to try to read a street name!

Second, it came with a traffic subscription. Which means, that when I have to drive home from Northern NJ after a work meeting, it automatically takes me which ever route has less rush hour traffic! I'm sure it's not perfect, but since I was racing the start of rush hour today and managed to beat it, I declare a win! (I'm sure it still has superior ghetto crime neighborhood sensing abilities, because life can't be perfect).
