Whooo...my body is waking up out of its winter hibernation mode thanks to the apt being warmer, sunlight, etc, and so I finally opened up the Biggest Loser Yoga DVD that I bought ages ago off a friend's recommendation.
Dude, I now just from my morning (which probably aren't as long as they should be) post-shower stretches that I'm not flexible. Hell, I've known since I was 6 or 7 when I couldn't touch my toes despite being a rather active little kid. But there's nothing like seeing what other people can do on the screen as you try to make your body eek out just another half inch forward or to the side.
Still, friend was right - it is a rather good low impact workout (though I need to watch the downward dogs both for my tendency to overuse my traps as well as the pressure on my wrists).
Also, definitely something I need to do if I want to avoid the "tendons so tight they can fracture hips without a fall" condition that my mother has. Though I have to say, the more I lose flexibility despite being rather consistent in attempts at stretches does make me wonder if I should bite the bullet and have the tests for scleroderma performed (was always ambivalent on it before given the whole risk of pre-existing conditions when you change insurance etc of the past). Though frankly, not sure what knowing would do other than have them tell me to stay active etc since I know the risks of all the medications and wouldn't take them unless in a massive flare.
