Family Security Matters are a scary group of people. But those quotes are pretty much tame compared to these that beg GW to become the modern day Julius Caesar!

You know, in fandom, it's rather fun to pick apart the "retcon-ing" of a television show's establiched canon. However, the Bush speechwriters should start keeping their own canon bible because for those of us keeping up at home (and on google), GW looks like the biggest flip flopper in the history of politics. Oh wait, I forgot - flip flopping is fine for Lame Ducks. Keeps the intervals between vetoes interesting for the poor guy. Rick Perlstein debunks the Right's lies about the Vietnam War here.

Texas governor Rick Perry sure knows how to nurse a grudge. His reply to the EU's plea to stop the 400th execution in 25 years in Texas:

"Two hundred and thirty years ago, our forefathers fought a war to throw off the yoke of a European monarch and gain the freedom of self-determination," said the governor's spokesman. Texans long ago decided that the death penalty is a just and appropriate punishment for the most horrible crimes committed against our citizens. While we respect our friends in Europe, welcome their investment in our state and appreciate their interest in our laws, Texans are doing just fine governing Texas."

Okay, you know what, when you write opinion pieces about gene therapy, or anything medical trial related, you really really need to put your "qualifications" SOMEWHERE.

Case in point. I don't have the time to look up every single detail (though I may depending on whether my annoyance increases or not), but so many things about this article bother me -- and generally, the last one more than the first. This is the original Washington Post article, though it doesn't identify the virus used, so still, I can't totally comment on everything.

I'm going to ignore the specifics of the case since I haven't looked into it and instead deal with the glaring factual errors.
