Well....I managed to keep my self control last night. Hopefully I don't regret it and I can find the pair I really liked again next spring. *crosses fingers that they aren't just fall shoes* If nothing else, I'll keep an eye out for when they drop down from the 90+ price they currently are.

Also convinced myself to buy the cheaper pair of dress shoes and ordered them in two widths just in case. Dress shoes annoy me because normally my feet fit into regular shoes....but I do know that for sandals I always have to have the "W" setting at payless. We'll see what happens.

After that, found two pairs of columbia shoes that are possible for winter. One is more of a sneaker which is a definite detriment since we do get snow accumulation out to wazzoo here. So I'm leaning towards the one w/ a higher ankle. Columbia so I know they are a decent brand and they aren't extravagantly priced. Gonna wait a bit before I buy them though.

Is anyone ready to kill me over my shoe blather?

Watched Gilmore Girls and House last night (since I'd already seen Supernatural pilot).
Gilmore Girls )

House )
Yes, me hate stereotypes. So instead I'll be watching Supernatural for the pretty boys and praying it doesn't get scary enough to give me nightmares. I never said I wasn't a hypocrite.

Oh, and the benadryl didn't help a lot. After I finally woke up this morning, I don't feel so lethargic as I did yesterday, but there is still plenty of pressure behing my eyes. No earache though, so that's something. *glares at Ophelia). I know it's down in the Carolina's, but can I help it that I'm a human barometer? Another reason I can never live in hurricane lands. Just move me to the desert now.

And yes, you'll be seeing a lot of my sept30 icons and serenity virgin. Only another 16 days that I can use them after all!!

ETA..and I can't decide if my leg stubble is bad enough to preclude wearing shorts. I've been sweating at work all week and the humidity is only supposed to be WORSE today. Ugggggghhhhh. At least it's supposed to hang around 85. *wants my days of 80 back* Yes, you know I'm officially ready for winter when I start complaining. I'm just glad this summer was enough to actually get me there by september.

INXS Rockstar blather because I know you guys aren't watching )

Ragweed=bad. Ragweed+rain and costantly changing weather=even worse. Siigh. Rain is supposed to knock down the pollen I know, but when I get to suffer when it moves in and out of the area, it never seems to make a difference. We'll see if the excedrin has any better luck than the benadryl did. Though at least I didn't feel sick at work today. Wasn't sweating either -- can't decide if that was the extra allergy medicine or if they just turned up the a/c to deal w/ the humidity.

No, no progress on Twin Regrets. *nudges betas gently* Hard to write in the evening when my head throbs.

Umm....that's about it. I learned some other stuff today that I might post in a very flocked post.

ETA - Oh, and FYI in case you haven't heard, Bush is delivering a national speech tomorrow night. So if there was a show at 9pm you wanted to watch, you might not get to see it.

Senate Republicans kill bid for independent, bipartisan Katrina commission Forget independent commission. I want a special prosecutor. Or whatever the hell they called Ken Starr back during whitewater.

U.S. lawmaker won't reopen bankruptcy for Katrina If you are in Wisconsin, please start organizing against Rep. James Sensenbrenner now! Oh yeah, and he's republican.

Why it's important for Democrats to not rubberstamp the Roberts' nomination Yes, I've heard the cries that he's the best we're going to do and that we won't get a liberal judge. Forget liberal. I just want a judge who believes in PERSONAL PRIVACY LAWS, outside of what is required for criminal prosecution. Seriously. Go read this guys rulings and briefs on personal privacy and how the constitution DOESN'T PROTECT IT. It is downright scary. And given that it looks like we'll have to fight in the near future for birth control (let alone abortion rights), this is important! Some highlights from the hearings that illustrate these points.

Blanco did not mess up state of emergency protocols I'm not saying the aftermath or hurricane are Bush's fault. But the very bureacracy and orginization (as well as vacations) of his administration clearly fouled something up. Again, where's our special prosecutor?

Barbed wire is being used to keep media away from bodies in hurricane affected areas -- And no, this isn't just some liberal blogger. The source is Wolf Blitzer speaking with a reporter in Mississippi.

And the idiocy continues. Warning, disturbing photo of emaciated Katrina survivor The punchline is - Read more... )
