It is 6:30 am. I can't remember the last time I was awake at this time. It hasn't improved. No check that, it has dramatically gotten worse since I've given up coffee. *mourns for coffee* I don't know if being awake at this time or having anxiety attacks all day would be worse. :P:P

I think the computer is mostly fixed. I still need to run the hard drive test tonight, but between losing the malware and then finishing the defrag, computer is acting nice and happy again. And yep, it needed the defrag, [livejournal.com profile] luridmuse. The stupid analyze function was fooling me because it's before and after shots looked the same. Needless to say when the flash of light from the screen coming on last night woke me up, the before and after looked SUBSTANTIALLY different. Were only 5 files that it couldn't defrag and the whole thing looks blue now so !! :):)

The real test will be to see if it starts up w/out any funky stuff tonite.

so, just had to restart computer cause stupid firewall update forced it....but it started normally!! No wierd grey bars, no blue screens of death....and I could start programs almost immediately instead of waiting for 5 minutes as sluggishness disappeared!!! *dances*

Go, go now and get this trojan scanner if you don't already have it. It's free and apparently picks up a lot of shit that spyware programs don't.

*hugs [livejournal.com profile] luridmuse and [livejournal.com profile] e_tsarran*

Though I'm sure the defrag helped a lot too. So glad I called you guys instead of just going ahead and reformatting my harddrive!!

ETA...and everyone on my flist should be super happy too since their help meant that I didn't lose all my WIP!!!

great:P:P

Well, odds are there will be crap on tv tonite: President Bush will announce his nominee for the Supreme Court at 9 o'clock tonight, the White House said today. --- on TV obviously cause we all can't just read about it tomorrow:P

Retreat is over with---actually went just fine. I always freak out about the possibilities and then it ends up being even easier than a cakewalk. Only one professor asked me to explain the poster and he was exceedingly nice about the transition from mouse to human. The members of my thesis committee weren't present for long -- and when they were they practically ran from me. I'm sorry...but I don't know, as a student at these types of retreats where it's students presenting, I'm not going to run over and demand you look at my stuff. If all you come for is to watch the talks of people in your own lab and then gab w/ professors that you can see any time of the day, fine. No sweat off my nose. But yeah, felt like they were avoiding me. *boggles at her superpowers of making grown men uncomfortable*

Now I'm hot (but somewhat cooler after a glass of lemonade and just sitting here for an hour) and hungry...but resolving the second of those is going to require me to turn on the oven. *whimpers*

*hugs [livejournal.com profile] mona1347* just because. *smooch*
