Lab meeting still sucks but no drama
Mar. 10th, 2005 09:59 amYesterday was a day that was blissfully without drama. Lab meeting wasn't all bad since it was the good postdoc..but dragged since we recieved 2 talks rather than one and pissed a lot of us off because we didn't see why the lab schedule wasn't just pushed back for the extra one. Ahh well. Course next week is my turn and I just don't give a shit since it seems highly unlikely that I'll stay in the lab.
But ended on a high note. Brian and I decided to go out on a spur of the moment deal and went to the wonderful pizza place in DE for the first time in like forever....and luckily we chose the night when there were half price large pizzas too! Gorged ourselves silly on a perfectly made pizza and decided what the hell, and bought one to take home for today's meals.
Really a nice relaxing night that I ended by passing out after starting my laundry in the washing machine....and couldn't force myself to wake up for all night even after I changed from agony inducing futon to my bed. Hell, hygiene didn't get addressed either last nite so my excuse was that obviously I needed. Seriously, haven't passed out and slept that hard in a long time. Guess skipping any extra caffiene doses yesterday really helped.
So well rested and now must hurry my ass up before brian calls whining about how he's hungry and I have all the pizza;P:) LOL

Mar. 10th, 2005 07:20 pmMade an appointment to see a prof whose lab I formally rotated in at beginning of grad school. He didn't refuse to see me (actually, if I take away my cyniscim and just read email, he sounds happy to meet w/ me) so that's of the good. Sadly, probably won't be able to meet w/ him till next thursday...directly after the meeting w/ the committee guy I still need to talk to. Oh well, can't be helped I suppose. We'll see what happens there. Mostly annoyed cause it still means I'll have to give lab meeting and all. Oh well.
Brian continues to be screwed over on his thesis project in multitude of ways. He keeps begging me to take him w/ me when I leave the lab...if only I could. Sadly we're in different graduate groups due to him being a bit overly dumb during the application process (he didn't like the touchy feely stuff of my group that you have to endure for first two years and thought he'd be more fasttracked in his program) so most of the professors I'm considering aren't members of his group.
Ah well, he gets a 3 day vacation from the entire city this weekend. *growls*

Farscape fic rec (early season 3)
Mar. 10th, 2005 10:14 pmSo of the links I can find for her, only one works for Mayaan...and the story only makes me want to read more of her work (I know, I have an email where someone offered to see if they have these on their harddrive in some format, just haven't gotten around to making a list). Anyways, in case the other farscape newbies on my flist haven't found it yet, here it is:
No Dominion
It's early season 3 after the premiere but before the John cloning incident...Very very good, very well written except for a couple minor typos...but as long of a story as it is, those can be excused (as in it probably took me 3+hrs to finish).
Go forth and read flist!
oh..and is anyone else's automatic update for windows having fits? Mine is trying to install an update for the Nvidia Geforce FX card but it isn't installing right.

I bet no one's surprised that you never post your current mood. In fact, I bet most of your friends are so sick of you locking them out of your life that they hate you behind your back. Shame. |
