jebbypalSo, apparently, the deal is the upgrader after you log in just doesn't work. But if you just click the "order iphone" without logging in, and then do the upgrade things it has, then you can order from the att site.

And the other difference being you can't modify anything about your plan other than your data plan that way. So i'll still have to go in somewhere to make the changes to my messaging part of the account after I receive it. Blehhh.
Way to stay classy and as useful as ever AT&T. (and no, switching to verizon isn't much of an option for me if I like having service when I go to OK.)
