Wow, that's a lot of driving. Probably around 1400 miles in 4 days on different weekends. A lot of driving. And I never updated anyone on it :P

So a week ago, after talking my ass off at Immunology 101, I drove to Ohio where I got to spend 3 days with the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe and 2 of those in the company of the effervescent [livejournal.com profile] mrsdrjackson. Fun times of discussing shared fandoms with mrsdrjackson though somehow our paths have rarely crossed on our flists, catching up with SB and getting sneak peaks at vids in progress (Tom Mcrae FTW) and my own fun Casey gift fic (that I have been remiss in not emailing feedback about - forthcoming, I swear), and slowly making friends with our alien overlord Bert. Spots had no problems accepting me as another piece of furniture designed to pet her to her hearts content and open the door for her when it was time to go out. And I discovered that Ohio produce does indeed trump NJ produce, and they have greatly improved barbecue than the east coast. *dabs eyes* There are many culinary things I miss about the midwest. Oh, and the scenery was lovely to drive through and reminded me of my hatred for the aggressiveness of east coast drivers.

And then I had to leave my vacation and come home and work really hard to catch up for 3 days before embarking on my 3 day holiday weekend. Which featured a trip to DC with a 3 hour stop off in delaware to visit my "sister" that was up from DC with her hubby to spend hubby's bday weekend with the inlaws, and then picking up [personal profile] inlovewithnight to go to the COWBOY MOUTH CONCERT.

Said concert started slow as in a half hour late for the opening band, who I wasn't enthralled with (I told my "sister" that they were a cross between AOR and Big Head Todd and The Monsters, except not as talented as either), and then another half hour wait for them to clear the stage before the main event -- during which there was a decision to torture us with music similar to Limp Bizcuit in which I began to doubt my attempt at concert viewing as it was triggering all my sound avoidance buttons and I'd forgotten the wisdom of buying earplugs for concerts in small venues. But I survived, with no help of a cold trembling episode courtesy of cold a/c and half of a negro modelo (seriously, no corona at any of the bars? *pouts* Next time I'll go find some non-alcoholic coffee at the coffee bar if I go to the 9:30 club again), and then the main event started.

I wasn't nearly buzzed enough or caffeneited enough to lose all my dance in public inhibitions at the beginning, but it in no way detracted from the awesomeness of performance. Everyone who says that if you like Cowboy Mouth's music, you must see them live to fully appreciate their awesomeness is totally right. Best concert and crowd interaction that I've ever witnessed (albeit in my 5 concert history), and every song is an impromptu jamming session, and everything you've heard about Fred's bullying ways with the audience is totally true and worth the price of admission in and of itself. I'm almost happy that they didn't play any of my favorite songs as then when I played the mp3s it would have been a poor imitation of the live performance.

So yeah, that said, if you are within an 8 hour drive of me, and Cowboy Mouth comes to a venue near you, I AM TOTALLY THERE WITH YOU. :):):):) So thank you Night, for agreeing to come even though you've seen them before as I may not have done it all on my lonesome :) Hope the hours of no food didn't mess you up too much the next day and that your tummy is better :)

After dropping Night off, I got back to the hotel at 2 am, so I'm a little bummed that I paid alot for a room that I spent a grand total of 8 hours in, and 5 of those unconscious, but at the same time, so worth it. I felt like Peter Burke in last week's ep of White Collar, except, rather normal sized opulent room, instead of suite-sized opulent room. Bed was comfy (something that my trip to Europe has shown me is not always the case), bathroom luxurious, and just a very comfy experience and did not make me wish every second that I was able to transport back to my apartment at home. Then complimentary breakfast the next morning with some truly excellent coffee in a rather small cup and Neil commenting in my head. I did feel a tad underdressed compared to the others in the restaurant, but then again, I had a 3 hour drive ahead of me.

But before that! Before that, I went to Eggspectation to meet up with the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] cincodemaygirl for lunch. Excellent lunch, entertaining company, what more could a girl ask for to finish off a weekend of fun? Oddly enough, neither of us can remember exactly how we friended since it seems we've not exactly been active in the same fandoms, so it must have been during on my trolling of friends of friends list (possibly _jems_), but I'm very glad that we did as it was fun to talk fandom and then to compare nerd school experiences. And great to have another DC-area buddy to meet up with when I come down. :)

So that was my week+ full of fun and I was absolutely trashed yesterday evening when I finally made it home. Ended up passing out in the recliner for 7 hours before getting up and moving to the bed for another 3. Now my cluttered apartment is taunting me and must be conquered otherwise there will be no empty space to do any of the work I should attack today if I don't want to have to be attacking it much of the evenings of next week :P:P:P

That being said, typing this reminds me that after several months or more crossposting on DW, I still don't automatically type usernames right since DW doesn't use " " after the equal sign. For anyone else who has made the move recently, go here for a quick cheat sheet of commonly used coding, and the code to use for cross-site names. It generally works good for crossposing as well.

seriously, no corona at any of the bars?

*makes face*

Montgomery County's been completely out of Corona for several days now, so a lot of the bars in the D.C. area don't have it right now, including those that aren't actually in MoCo for some odd reason. I expect that's probably why the 9:30 Club didn't have any, because I'm fairly certain they normally have it.

But, anyway, I'm glad you had a fun trip. =)

I'm glad you made it back safely (and that much driving would probably give me nightmares too)!

<3 <3 It was a good show! Next time I'll remember a hoodie, though, what was the deal with the AC?

Sounds like you had a most satisfying vacation, overall. \o/ Don reiterated that you (and Kate, too) are welcome to visit us any time, just call before you hit to make sure the room is ready. We had a great time, once that frakking party was over. Okay, so maybe the party was fun, too, but... O_O
