jebbypalIf you visited any news sites or watched it last week, you know about the story of Iranian boats confronting a US Navy ship. What may not have been as clear depending on your sources is that the story was manufactured by the Pentagon and planted with CBS and CNN.
Say it with me now, 12 months...
As to what we have so far survived, the White House has now stated that the only copies of the missing emails were recycled.

As for FISA, we may have something much more pressing to worry about. National Intelligence Director is drawing up plans for cyperspace spying.
As to presidential candidates, I repeat my vow to go SOMEWHERE, ANYWHERE else if Huckabee is in any way inaugarated come next January. He is advocating that the constitution be changed to reflect "God's standards". Even the Republican conservative diehards are scared of this guy!
I've been following the story of the pregnant marine that was killed. This is the most recent update.. I really wish I'd saved copies of all the CNN stories on this (mostly just updated), but I didn't. It has really pissed me off. If you saw the early stories from when the pregnant marine, Lauterbach, went missing, there was a gradual progression. At first, I excused it because she was missing, extremely pregnant, and there was some urgency. But at the same time, it became readily apparent that this was plain lazy reporting.
-When first described as missing, it was stated she was to be a witness in a Marine investigation.
-The next day, it was stated that they now thought she had just gone AWOL because as her mother said, "she was a compulsive liar" (this has finally been removed today, several days after all this started. It was in the stories yesterday). Okay, look, I know a lot of teens that are compulsive liars. But by the time they grow up some, and I'd think a stint in the marines would probably aid in that, I'd think it's time to give them the benefit of the doubt or to ask someone other than her mother as to her character.
-Finally, it was revealed that the investigation she was to testify in was a rape case in which she was the complainant. Again, followed by the "compulsive liar" bit with the hint that maybe she'd made the whole thing up and gone missing out of shame etc.
-It was four days later before anyone started looking into the man she'd accused of rape. Four! And everyone kept saying that he couldn't be a suspect becaue they "were in a friendly relationship even after the complaint".
UMMM, wtf? Of course, a girl goes and gets herself raped, is a compulsive liar, so it's not really rape and she's just gone missing. The whole reporting of the mess was incredibly crappy, very poor police work, and gaaah. The entire thing makes me so angry I can't even be coherent about it.
Is it any wonder I'd rather be looking at the Daily Coyote than doing news round up posts....

The deletion of millions of email beginning in March 2003 coupled with the White House’s destruction of back-up copies of those deleted email mean that there are no back-up copies of emails deleted during the period March 2003 through October 2003. The significance of this time-period cannot be overstated: the U.S. went to war with Iraq, top White House officials leaked the covert identity of Valerie Plame Wilson and the Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into their actions.
