If you use the new low energy light bulbs, you need to be aware that they should not be disposed in normal garbage as they do contain mercury.

Further proof that's there's always a cost for every good thing...

Old filament light bulbs have Mercury as well (and will release more Mercury into your house over their lifetime than CFL's), and most Home Depots will let you return the bulbs there for Recycling. Within 5 years CFL's will give way to LED's any way, and they don't contain Mercury.
