I swear it is. I was honestly heartbroken three and a half years ago when my hoover Boss vacuum died on me (after spitting the smell of burning rubber for almost another half year). Granted, I'd had it for almost five and had gotten it on sale at kmart for about 60 bucks. But it was WONDERFUL. It had a motor that pulled itself, a face plate on the bottom that was easy to take off (no screws even) in order to clean hair of the roll brush (critical for anyone with hair longer than a chihauaua), adjustable height for vacuuming, and just about every tool you'd ever need on a vacuum (minus someone attatched to do it for you). It was my baby. Then it died....And I mourned and went about five months without vacuuming because these stupid cup vacuums had come out and I couldn't find one with a bag.

But finally, I broke down and bought another vacuum. The first one was returned due to being defective (which is a theme for me somehow) after it refused to stay upright and attacked my shin - taking a chunk of skin and leaving a bruise that lasted two months. Then I bought the green mean mini-monster, also known as the Eureka optima. It had the same size motor as my Boss had and I figured all good, except for the cup right?

Wrong. First, no adjustable height for the vacuum portion on the carpet. And when that powerful of a motor is right next to the carpet, it's damn hard to push no matter how light it is (this one is purported to be less than 11 lb). Plus, the stupid cup hepa filter -- supposedly you're supposed to be able to clean the dirt off of it to prolong it's life -- was nearly impossible to clean at all. And you ended up spreading more dust than made it worth it when you did so. And finally, the stupid ass handle. Now, at first there was no problem with this or I'd have returned it immediately. No, about six months ago the handled decided to not stay adjusted to the appropriate height -- so you'd be pushing as hard as you could and suddently fall forward when the handle gave way. But it was acceptable in the TEENY TINY space I used to have to vacuum. Since the new place? God, every time has been more than a workout and I have to empty it three times before I even finish the living room because this stupid "new" carpet wont' stop SHEDDING. Gah. (Yeah, don't buy this - it is still on the market).

So, yesterday, I decided to try to buy another one despite my bad experience w/ the bed bath beyond behemoth (that's only redeeming feature was a bag and it probably weighed at least a quarter of my weight and it was defective -- handle wouldn't swivel DOWN).

I bought the Bissel Cleanview II (no bag, sadly). It's relatively light, it has an adjustable floor height, tons of attachments, multiple filters to save your motor from burning out (and, with the exception of the hepa filter on the exterior, ALL are washable with soap and water). Floor plate has screws, but there is a way to get it off to clean the brush roll. I plugged it in to test it after my last bad experience and ..

OMG, it is heaven to push a vacuum that moves without putting every ounce of my weight behind it!! *pets the vacuum* I think I'll still have to empty the cup frequently until this damn carpet stops shedding, but it makes vacuuming so much less of a full body workout which means I'll actually do it more often!! Yayyyy!!!!

I know, I'm wierd. But if you've ever had a bad vacuum experience, you know why I'm singing the graces of this machine. I still miss my self propelled boss, but this newbie comes a little close and makes me not lose all hope that engineers still know how to make a vacuum that works.

Okay, now to do some actual real work that I intended today instead of cleaning and umpteen errands that I had to do while cleaning and all that.
