Well, I guess that goes to show that even people "educated" about a particular topic can be stupid. *facepalm*
I've met many "ferocious" breeds in my life. While I treat all animals I'm not familiar with respectfully, I also don't assume them worst of them because of their breed. I once met a pit bull that was 65 pounds of lap pomeranian in disguise. My parents' boxer was intimidating, with the protective stance and deep, resonant bark. At least, until you talked to him in soft tones. Then he turned into a big marshmallow. An enromous mastiff took such a liking to me that I couldn't stay in one place for too long without him sitting on my foot and leaning against me. I've also seen little tiny dogs turn vicious for no other reason than they were in a bad mood.
