win and fail
Aug. 31st, 2012 10:55 amYesterday was a combo of those.
Nothing horrible horrible happened, but it's the little things.
After telecon at 4-5 pm, i walked out of the office i was borrowing into a wall of popcorn smell. Ugh. Sinuses immediately started to react, so I convinced my coworker (who i was doing happy hour with) to leave work early. However, I forgot to grab any nuts or snacks.
So, we end up at eatery with big open bar -- wasn't too crowded so smells of appetizers weren't bothering me. However, I was probably being a bit ambitious to have 2 heinekens on empty stomach after I wasn't feeling the first one. (2 total, not 3 total. I am not that dumb).
When we were done, I knew I was too tipsy to drive, so we entered the win portion of the evening. Stopped in Black and White to browse, in case I could spot anything dressy for the wedding tomorrow that I liked that would help hide my guy more than the dresses I bought 10 lbs and 1-2 years ago. Good news, success -- actually found 1 dress and then 1 shirt/skirt combo. I blame my friend (who's getting married) for the $$$ spent, because I always find a ton of stuff I like when I'm with her or doing something for her. Seriously, she's like my good luck shopping crack.
So then I head off to whole foods to buy food to cook for trip and head home. Once home, I promptly cook dinner and am consistently feeling migraine building, and eventually cede defeat and go to bed at 10 pm instead of doing the work I needed to do.
Can you guess the mega fail part of the evening from that scenario?
Yep, forgot to put said food that I bought away. Ergo, I got to throw away an eye roast and head of lettuce this morning. Sigh. :(
But cute clothes, so overall win. :) And I think my dresses are reaching a critical mass such that I'll need to break down and start trying to wear them for work functions as well instead of just my suits. The extra good news on the items I purchased yesterday is they are all machine washable (I worry that I may start reacting to dry clean fluid so this is important. I try to only buy dry clean jackets and occasionally pants).
