I swear, exactly how fucked up does politics have to be to make one long for days of acrimony and exaggeration that surrounded the Monica Lewinsky scandal and Hilary's original attempt at health care reform?

Uterus, a dirty word? WTF, Florida? All your female relatives have one (presumably). If the word uterus is obscene, exactly what would that make a fetus, which you are so concerned about? Maybe that's the tack we need to take here - abortions for all in order to protect the fetus from that evil, obscene place of a uterus which will permanently scar it forever!!!!! At least, if the fetus grows up to be a Republican anyway.

I'm beginning to think that now that women have achieved a decent amount of liberation, that penis envy has been replaced by uterus envy. How dare those women do everything men can do, and more! For shame! Career entry must be accompanied by immediate hysterectomy to prevent all men from being green at the fact they can't have a job and experience the joy of doing it while being pregnant!!

And then there's the budget fiasco. Oh to bring back the sanity of the old Newt Gingrich, or at least it would seem so. It's not enough that they want to decimate programs that truly help the working poor and the unemployed, especially with the unmitigated success they had with the welfare reform back in the 90s that Clinton bought into /sarcasm. Nooo, while still trying to bully everyone into cutting the 61 billion, we have to set the stage for a fight next year in which they try to cut over a trillion of dollars. Guarantee you there won't be any new taxes or closing of corporate tax loopholes.

Its enough to wish for governmental recall ability at a national level (as much as I actually think overall that's a bad idea). The current bunch seems so focused on their one campaign promise of cutting the deficit by balancing the budget that they've completely forgotten the whole "job creation" bit.

Once again, the whole not learning from history is destined to hurt the majority while the ignorant minority preens in their supposed successes.

After at least a week on the claritin (probably more), I took a break from it last night. Mostly to get a freaking full night of deep sleep!!!!

Like caffeine, my body has finally lost it's almost complete immunity to "normal" levels of pseudophedrine (which are probably about 1/4 - 1/10 of what I was taking in the hey day of grad school with the mice + corn bedding for the mice + general philly air nastiness). As long as I take it before 7 pm, I can "sleep". However, said sleep is light and I wake up not really feeling tired either mentally or phyisically, but yet still have the feeling that I just laid in bed for ~6 hours without really going to sleep. The best I can hope for is really vivid dreams.

So, as I've been getting shorter and shorter tolerance with every day annoyances (like people talking around the office near me when I'm attempting to work!), I figured a full night of restful sleep would be good. (only problem is the meant I had no energy by the time 8:30 rolled around and so no, no cleaning was done).

Glorious I tell you. Actually feeling a kick from the caffeine as my body definitely thought the idea of getting out of bed when I'd hit snooze 5 times already was stupid.

Now hopefully, my annoyance level will back down and I won't be tempted to complain loudly about coworker's conversations or music playing softly within a 20 foot radius of me.

Also, Justified tonight \0/ Good wife last night was excellent as well (almost missed as didn't see it listed as new on futon critic).
