Bush says other nations delay Guantanamo closures
*laughs* Oh yes. It's other nations that are delaying it. Not the fact that we've wrongly kept many of these people locked up in substandard conditions with no contact with the outside world for over five years. Or that at the same time, they were housed with extremists. I remember when Guantanamo opened, the Irish postdoc I worked with laughed and told me America had just caused itself more problems than we could imagine. He said Britain had done the same thing with IRA and suspected IRA during much of the Irish-British issues....the result had always been increased IRA membership as a result of people being pissed off at being wrongly imprisoned and being exposed to people with extreme idealogies and agendas.

But you know, I'm sure Bush is right. He's the decider and God has never told him that he's wrong yet.

America's economy continues to tank. Naah, this doesn't feel like the 1970s and 80s at all. Because as long as we continue to redefine the criteria that make inflation, we can't enter a recession officially.

Young Republican national federation chair allegedly sexually assaults a sleeping man. The worst of it is this wasn't the first time he's been accused of doing this.

IL court rules that pharmacists can refuse to dispense emergency contraception. Great, now can I go to pharmacy school so I can refuse to give ANY medicine to asshats?? Also, no viagra to obviously horny old men.

He doesn't want to give health insurance to kids, but he wants more tax breaks for corporations.
Ummm, wow...I hate to say it but he's single handedly giving the Harvard MBA a really bad name. I mean, you let out this guy who apparently doesn't see that 100 billion - zero = 100 billion + interest. Really, where's all the tax money going to come from? Oh, wait, that's right, we'll destroy all the social programs, turn the schools and every other domestic service over to the CORPORATE contractors, and use every single penny left over to ineptly run a war, pay huge monies to the CORPORATIONS helping us fight them, as well as our own salary for life. Does anyone doubt that the conservative republican plan has ALWAYS been to simply destroy government in order to fulfill their prophecy that big government is bad??

where's my time machine?

Also, [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick has some truly terrifying reading about the implications of the evangelicizing of the US military and what might happen if they all return to a democrat controlled government.
